Haunted Attractions in Ohio ?

I'm no stranger to making trips down to CP, coming from Buffalo, NY. But I do have a question to those of you who live out or around Sandusky or anybody who lives around the Oh2 route that leads to the point. Im curious to know if anybody knows of any other haunted attractions that are within somewhat reasonable distance to the Sandusky area.

I'm aware of Ghostly Manor, I checked that place out over the summer. But I was kind of hoping maybe to find some other haunts outside the park, if there's really any others at all. I've done my research through Hauntworld.com and some other Halloween search sites, but IM not sure which places are along my route that I normally take to get to Sandusky. Like I mentioned coming from Buffalo, NY i take the I-90 until the merge for the Oh2 comes and take the 2 all the way to rye beach.

Anyone think they can toss me a helping hand on this subject?

I've never been, but I really want to go this year:

http://www.7floorsofhell.com/

It's somewhere in Cleveland, so it's an hour drive, but it looks worth it to me.

Exit, I live in Cleveland. Seven floors of hell is a set of terrible haunted houses. Alot of my friends work there, it gets really busy. The houses themselves are different buildings in the faigrounds in Berea, I think there was one good house I went in. Not worth 20 dollars at all.

The best haunted house around IMO is Nightmare in Painesville, if you can get that way. It is far on the east side of Cleveland so its about 1 1/2-2 hours from CP, but much more with your money as to 7 floors of hell.

Ok well I will plug the haunted house that I work at. Ghostly Manor (http://ghostlymanor.com) is located in Sandusky, just a few miles from CP on Route 250. We were rated number 6 in the nation this year buy the Dark Ride and Funhouse Enthusiasts (http://www.dafe.org)
This is a very high startle, low gore, event. With over 17 rooms it takes around 20 minutes to walk through.
Also in the same building is the brand new XD 3D Motion Theater (http://xd3dtheater.com) This is a motion simulator that is the only one of it's kind in Ohio and only the 4 in the US. We also have a skating rink, but the owners have been concentrating on the Haunted House and the XD theater so the skating rink has been neglected.
Also (man we have a lot of stuff in here don't we :) ) we have a Halloween store, think Spirit but smaller with a lot of Ghostly Manor merchandise.
If you want more information feel free to contact the owner at bill@ghostlymanor.com or send me a PM.

Check out Bloodview.... less of the "jump out and scare ya" and more of the "actors have dialogue and creep you out"
it's in broadview heights $12 www.bloodview.com

(also) DO NOT go to Mansfield's "haunted prison experience" It Sucks this year.... Haunted houses don't scare me normally, but a few years ago I left that place in Tears... really creepy.... so we got some friends & went this past Friday.... Don't Bother going.... it's gotten way too "commercial scare tactics" It used to be creepy as all get-out with just walking through the prison sections... we gave up & went to Medina's "Apple Cabin" for their "Nightmare in the wilderness" which ws Worth the $12 (big time) and MUCH better a deal than the $14 for Mansfield....

(7 floors was "alright" this year... the completely black house kinda geeked me out a bit though.)

I live about 3 doors down from Seven Floors of Hell. Its not very good but it seems to get better every year. By Cedar Point, there is the Haunted Hydro. The best one around as far as I know is Hudson Haunted House. I heard that is horribly frightening. By the way DannyP, your home park is Darien Lake, isn't it? LOVE Superman!

I have not been this year, my sister went she said it was ok. Her boyfriend said it was boring though. Bloodview I have never been to but always hear good things about, but Painesville really got me good. The whole carnival, city like has an erie feeling to it I think.

Like I mentioned I checked out ghostly manor over the summer on my visit during coastermania, it was fun. I'm glad they were open in the summer. I mean i love halloween and can never get enough of haunted houses. I stumbled across that prison one in mansfield, i was actually intrigued by it and maybe keeping as a possibility it did sound interesting but I know what you mean when certian haunts glam up all there advertising and the house itself isn't all that great. The only thing that really incited me was that its an actual prison so I would assume the place already has that presence felt upon visiting the place especially at night and when a haunted house has been built inside it.

I have heard of 7 floors actually the house I work at up in Buffalo here. The owners at mine are close friends with the dude who runs and own 7 floors. I've heard good things. Thanks for the input so far everyone I appreciate it much, If anyone knows of anything else please speak up.

BTW Drew which one do you speak of thats in painsville ? or where is that ?.

Painesville is a suburb of East Cleveland, the haunted house is called Nightmare in Painesville. It is in the fairgrounds out there, I really do not know the name. 7 Floors of Hell somewhat bored me, but while I was in the houses it was funny to hear multiple people jump out to scare me then directly after like "DREW whats up?" but I laughed at most of it.

Also that haunted prison I have never been to, my friend Karen wants to go there for the night sometime though. It does sound like a good one though.

After giving my situation for my plans on this saturday some thought. So far 7 floors seems like the most logical visit for me. Being that its not to far out of the way from coming back home and chances of me getting lost are allot less rather than trying to find the prison one. ;). Is nightmares within any reasonable distance of the I-90 ?

Also is there a link I can't seem to find that one ?

I do not know a link, but I am pretty sure you just take 90 the whole way there. 7 floors of hell would be somewhat out of your way from I-90 unless you are using turnpike. I will look for a link to it, but I do not have one offhand.

Did nightmares maybe change there name to Frightworld this year ?. I just stumbled across a site thats called frightworld in painesville oh, it looks allot closer to the 90 then 7-floors would be.

Yeah that has to be it, the Lake County Fairgrounds sounds right. I think nightmare in Painesville was a better name. Hopefully it is as good this year as past despite the name change lol.

That's a shame to hear. I know that the old reformatory haunt always used to get rave reviews from everyone, and I really wanted to go check it out, but I was always too young until I moved to Indiana. That place is creepy enough as it is without the effort of making it even more scary, so I could always see why it got rave reviews.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well hey if you decide your gonna come down and go through it, send me a PM. This goes for anybody though. I live in mansfield, probably 7 or 8 minutes away on the other side of town, and I'd be more than happy to meet up with you guys if you wanted to go through it.

I don't care if the haunted house sucks. What you REALLY need to do if you want a scare is to wait until the summer when they do the ghost hunts and you have to walk through the empty prison on your own with just a flashlight. THAT is what scary really means.

To those that are mentioning Bloodview, my girlfriend is absolutely terrified of haunted houses, to the point where she almost died in one of the CP ones, but she thought Bloodview was absolutely lame.

Take that for what you will...

Almost died?

^ She was really that scared.

I had nail marks in my arm from her death grip, and I was wearing a hoodie.

Wow. That's... an experience to remember, I guess. Y'know, Carhartt makes a pretty durable (and thick) jacket. ;)
