Housing

What do you guys think is the best housing? I'm planning on working at CP in a couple years and i can't decide which housing. I want to like have my own room but live with people, but if theres just one person in my room thats fine. Also do the individual like rooms where you sleep at have a cable hookup or is it just the living room? Thanks in advance.

All of the housing at Cedar Point will have more than one roommate in it. So you will have roommates no matter which you live in.

About the cable though it depends on which housing you live in. The dorms have up to 4 people in them and the have cable in the room. The apartments that hold up to I believe 14 people in 5 different rooms have cable in the living room thats it, but a lot of people just get a spliter and run it to the indivual 4 person rooms in the apartment.

This forum also talks a lot about the Cedar Point housing.

Alright thanks. Also do they have wi-fi in any of the dorms/apartments or is it just in that lounge thing?

They only have it in the rec. center and it never works. I used bring my laptop and go to Donut Time and use mine whenever I got out early.

Oh and the best housing is the commons dorms. Not really that good compared to college though. I wouldn't stay in an apartment unless you want over 10 other roommates.. ridiculous.

Okay so i've narrowed it down to the Common Dorms and the Bayside Apartments based on all the posts that I've read.

You can rule out Bayside apartments too because they are hard to get into unless you get there very early.

Commons Dorms are definitely the place to be...they're probably going to be your best bet. The air conditioner is nice to have in your one room, haha.

I also heard that they were reserving the baysides for returning employees, but that may just be a rumor.

Yeah that is definitly a rumor, Bayside Apartments, however, are very hard to get considering that they are open year round.

Don't forget that both Breakers Express and Castaway Bay have WiFi in the hotel lobby. If you are living off Point, I think you would find that much more convenient than Donut Time.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Now I've read for the housing options such as the on-point dorms and common dorms, there's "community showers." It's kinda hard to be vague about this, but does that mean the showers are open where your together with everyone showering, or are they still individual showers, like little cubes with curtains over them. I was just wondering cause being gay and all,.. I don't think I could handle open showers. I appreciate it, and sorry for being so specific.

the showers in the dorms are individual stalls with curtains as doors. But living in the dorms are so much fun!

Yeah Donut Time was definitely more convinient for me, I didn't have a car and it was nice sitting in a cool place on such a hot day. But those were the days when I would get out by 3pm anyway, so it worked out. Walking to Breakers or Castaway was too far out of the way :)

But yeah the showers are individual. And it's weird because the bathrooms were actually nicer than the community bathrooms here at MSU, at least I thought so.

The internet at the Rec Center wasn't good at all. I know a few of my friends couldn't use their lapotops there because the wirless wouldnt connect to the network... as for places to live, bayside is really nice if you get there early but other than that commons dorms are the place to live. The community bathrooms have individual stalls and are pretty clean and are not that bad.

Speaking of wireless internet has anyone heard anything about getting Wi-Fi in the Dorms? I know during weekends last year they were going around to ask employees how we thought the complex could be improved, and that was one of the main concerns.

i'm applying to CP and was looking at the housing for employees. Do the dorms have some type of kitchen at all? Do they allow microwaves in the dorms?

My college sends out job opportunities via e-mails. I got one yesterday saying that CP will be on campus Monday afternoon to discuss employement with any interested student. I am so hoping that I get hired....I love CP and really need the money.

the only housing units that have kitchens are the apartments; (bayside and commons)

I heard that the dorms will have wifi this season.

That would be awesome, but does wifi do well with cinderblock walls?

Is the off-point housing within reasonable walking distance of the park? I mean, why wake up 2 or 3 hours before you start to sit on a bus for 5 minutes when I could get up an hour before and walk... lol...
