Cedar Point Employees

Okay so I'm currently a Senior in high school in Pennsylvania I've been working at hersheypark for about 2 years but I think I want to try out Cedar Point this summer
Questions
1.Say for example I get picked in area 1 for rides host do I get to rotate in between those rides or am I at a permanent ride for the summer
2. Can you pick what area/ride you get
3. What rides are in what areas
4. Am I guarenteed the job
5. And when I reapply do I get the same area/ride from the previous year
6. When your at a ride do you rotate positions
7. What's the typical summer like at Cedar Point

I really want to try Cedar Point This summer so it's greatly appreciated for any possitive feedback please

1. Generally you will be assigned a certain attraction when you are hired. However, this may change at any time. Depending on when you arrive to start work, if they need your help in another area or attraction, they may move you. While you will most likely have a "home" attraction, so to speak, it is likely you will be moved around, either temporarily, or permanently, at some point during the season based on staffing needs and performance.

2. You generally can not pick your ride or area as a new employee, although you may be given the opportunity to voice your interest in a certain attraction during your interview. However, it's luck of the draw as to what manager picks up your application. If an Area 1 manager gets your application, and you request an Area 2 ride, they may send your application to the Area 2 manager (which still doesn't guarantee you the attraction you requested), or they may just assign you where they so choose within their area.

3. This may change slightly with the addition of Windseeker, loss of Ocean Motion, Chaos, etc., however, at last I knew:
Area 1: Cad Cars and Planet Snoopy towards the front of the park, including Sky Ride.
Area 2: Scrambler and Dodgem back to Monster and Paddlewheel, not including Camp Snoopy. Including rides up to Millennium Force and Mantis.
Area 3: Camp Snoopy back through Frontiertown, including Shoot the Rapids.

4. No, no job is ever guaranteed.

5. In most cases, you'll be in the same area, but not necessarily the same ride. In some cases, returning employees may request certain attractions.

6. Yes, typically every half hour, although there are sometimes exceptions.

7. A lot depends on how good staffing is. Generally, work weeks are 6 days, with 1 day off.

My son is going to apply in January/February 2011 to try to work at Cedar Point in 2011. My daughter worked there 2 years ago.

My question is, Do Cedar Point Employees, still get into other Cedar Fair Parks for free, like my daughter did 2 years ago.

On the Cedar Point website, under JOBS, it says EMPLOYEE Perks, Get into Cedar Point and Soak City for free, no mention of other parks

I am working out the Platnum Pass money, and need to know, if my son gets the Job, can he go to Kings Dominion, Kings Island, and Carowinds, with his Cedar Point ID, or will he need a Platnum pass too.

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

As of last I heard, yes they do still get into other parks for free. However, they only have access for free during the time of their contract. For example, if their contract ends in August, they won't have any free access (CP, SC, or other parks) in September, or October.

Thanks, DBCP,

Yea I knew once the contract was up that, that was it, I even mentioned to him, that he may have to get a ticket to go to Halloweekends with us.

I am making plans for June 2011, to make a day trip to each park, I have read many people here doing that, and we want to give it a try.

Just make sure he requests the days off for the trips on his application or else he likely will be stuck working.

Thanks Ralph, I will suggest that to him, I guess I better figure out the exact days before he applies.

As far as the "getting into other CF parks for free"...this past summer 2010 when my boyfriend and I made a trip down south to get my car from home we stopped in at World's of Fun in Kansas City,MO and upon producing our CP I.d's were asked for a recent pay stub to prove that we were in fact still employed by CP.We didn't have our pay stubs with us,as we have never been told it was something we needed to have to get into the other CF parks.
Our CP I.d's don't have any indication of what year of employment they are for and people do often keep I.d's from past years.I'd definitely advise that when visiting other CF owned parks that you make sure your son brings along his most recent pay stub so you don't have to deal with problems like that arising when you're already on the trip.

I thought it was nice that when I was asked in my interview about where I would like to be (i can't remember the wording exactly) I said Mean Streak. And look, I got Mean Streak! So its quite possible.

Be advised that your ride or location may change when you process in. There are no guarantees.

My brother-in-law and his wife have worked at CP for the last 7 years. We all went to Kings Dominion last summer, they showed their ID's at the gate and went right in, no pay stubs or anything. Each park may have their own policy on this though.

IS THERE A WAY THAT YOU CAN LOOKUP YOUR PAYSTUBS ONLINE FROM OCTOBER 2010

no, you have to keep them...and you can only be admitted while work at CP or Castaway Bay in the off season.
