2014 season passes

Is there any information available when they will begin the sales of 2014 season passes?

I also would like to know. I have heard on KI Central's forums that their renewal's for the 2014 passes start on Labor Day weekend. I guess this is the only time you can renew/purchase at the lowest prices. Only catch with that, though, is that once you upgrade an existing pass (this year), you won't be able to use it for the remainder of this season, which is dumb to me. I hope this is not true or not the case for CP pass holders, as I would like to renew my pass once CP starts selling them for the 2014 season.

You can use renewed passes still. Did it last year and previous years!

I'll echo what JW said but also add that there can be glitches. We renewed our passes on the Saturday of Bonus Weekend last year, and when we went to go in the next morning, our passes scanned as invalid. Basically it was a computer glitch where the pass was only showing that it was valid for the next season. I was assured it was fixed but eventually had to talk to one of the IT guys at CP to get it right. If my memory is correct, the introductory prices lasted until a few weeks after the season ended last year.

2014 SEASON PASSES go on sale this Friday, August 30 at their lowest prices!

Plus, we're now featuring an installment plan of 9 payments as low as $12.50 each for a Regular Season Pass, or $20 each for a Regular Platinum Pass!

AND - each new Pass purchased includes a free ticket to HalloWeekends 2013!

Installment plan only available online. 2014 Pass info available online beginning Friday. Offers and pricing subject to change

Do those renewing get any kind of a spiff/discount? Since a free pass for Halloweekends is of no value when I have a 2013 pass.

Can you bring a guest with that free ticket?

I have a feeling that when the post says "each NEW pass purchased includes a free ticket", they are referring to people who are not renewing their pass but buying one for the first time or opted not to buy a season pass for 2013. I doubt CP needs to give away free tickets to all season passholders during one of their busiest times of the year.

You mean, aside from the discounted price?

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so infrequently used?

I didn't realize that you did. this will be my first renewal. What is the renewal discount?

Something is seriously wrong with the CP's website, specifically the page where you go to renew or buy a 2014 pass. Wonder if it's because everyone's flooding the page because they want to renew?

OK, so now the website is working for the season passes. BUT, I don't see any kind of discount given for the 2014 pass RENEWALS. WHAT GIVES? No discounts this year? Or wonder if its a glitch or something.

OK..update. So I just got off the phone with CP season pass division, and they said NO DISCOUNTS will be given for renewing an existing season pass. Wow..wonder whats up with that. She said the prices for passes are going to be the lowest all the way up until the end of this season. But, again, NO DISCOUNTS FOR RENEWALS.

There is no discounted price for pass renewals this year. According to the lady I talked to at CP in the season pass department. Also, looked on the website where you go to renew the pass, and again, no discounted prices. Wow.

Was there a specific discount last year for renewals beyond the discount for buying before the end of October (that was available for renewals and new pass purchases)? I had to get a replacement Platinum Pass last year while I was at Kings Island. When I renewed my pass and my son's pass, I could process his as a renewal through the Cedar Point website but it didn't recognize my pass number. Presumably I could have renewed mine on the Kings Island website but as I recall the price being the same, I just got a new Platinum Pass for me and renewed my son's pass. Pretty sure both passes were the same price. Maybe it was different for season's passes versus Platinum Passes?

There was no discount last year either. Which makes my decision very easy. Get a new pass and get a free ticket for Halloweekends this year.

Wow, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If I renew at the same price as new, it would be nice to have the free ticket to bring a friend who hasn't been this year to Halloweekends.

Do they actually give you a free ticket? On the website it says you can use your 2014 pass once this year. If they just allow you to use your pass, that goes in your name and you can't bring a guest with it. If anyone can fill me in on that, it would help.

Looking up previous prices via the way back machine, the equivalent of a Platinum Pass in 1997 was $189.95. One of those odd things where we actually get more bang for our buck now vs. then.
