Historical Society needs $9,600

The Geauga Historical Society was donated the building that surrounded Hay Hayler and plans to use it to house and display the Geauga Lake memorabilia. The problem is, the building will cost an estimated $9,600 to move from the old amusement park site in Bainbridge Township to the Century Village campus in Burton Village.

Their biggest hurdle is they have a Sunday deadline to remove the building. Anyone interested in donating can call their office at (440) 834-1492

Actually the deadline was last Sunday.

"The biggest problem is, I had a Sunday deadline to remove thebuilding, so it could be demolished at any time if someone doesn't comeforward with donations immediately," McNulty said.

I'm just not sure why you'd wait until after the deadline to ask for money.

Update: I recieved an e-mail from the historical Society today.

"Hello Everyone! I wanted to update everyone on the status of saving the Hay Bayler Building at Geauga Lake. Thanks to everyone's efforts we were able to raise the monies to disassemble and move the building to the grounds. This should be completed within the next two weeks (the gentleman who donated the building helped us buy some time). The next step for this project is to raise the funds to reconstruct the building. We have a site available and will be trying to have contractors grade the land and hopefully pour a foundation. We'd like to have this complete before winter. I'll keep everyone informed as we move along. If you could keep spreading the word, that would be a great help!"
