Maverick: A Review LONG Overdue
For those of you that have been around know I grew up with CP and have since moved out to Los Angeles. You also may remember a heated little thread I I started last year about how I thought SFMM didn't get enough credit for their thrill rides but not having rode Maverick, my opinion never really got any traction. Well I FINALLY made it back to Cedar Point a few weeks ago and it's time to give credit, where credit is due.
Maverick was great. Even after watching POVs for a full season and some change before getting to finally ride, I was impressed both times through. It's truly a ride with a great bit of everything. The Stengal Dives certainly win the prize for best element (and I'll be the first to admit that a year ago I would've had them down as most gimmicky).
I was also surprised by how amazingly smooth ALL the elements run. Those of you complaining about headbanging really need to sit back and stop goofing around. I even had my hands up (which I NEVER do anymore on OTSR rides) and I never even came close to getting smacked. Unfortunately, the quick and smooth transitions of Maverick and the height and speed of Dragster severely leave MF searching for relevance.
In the end, I was very much impressed with Maverick. It still doesn't dethrone X2 (formerly X at SFMM), but it's certainly a great ride and I wanted to share my accolades.
