High Po!nts:
Hubby finally got Doc ok to ride coasters!
We hit up Raptor 4x, me, 6x. Had on one of my older Raptor shirts that’s logo looks like the Troika sign (which one of the crew noticed) so every time I rode the spieler would say “thanks for riding Raptor, Raptor, Raptor” classic!
Got 2 Maggie rides, Skyhawk 1x, and 1 Gemini ride. Nice to see the racing again-our train kicked butt!
Hubby managed ok with his 1 coaster rides, no bleeding in his eyes so he passed

Park was it’s usual spotless self, people were having a great time. I actually stayed out of all the stores so didn’t see anything I had to have. I can’t remember the last time I left that park without a CP bag! That was a real high point for my hubby!

On way home we decided to try this restaurant we’ve seen signs on 250 for “Berry’s Restaurant” in Norwalk. Easy to find and OMG, the looks of this place alone was great, the prices were awesome and the food was not only reasonably priced, you get huge portions and it was wonderful!
Apparently this place is known for their rice pudding, and it is no wonder! Yummy!
We decided this would have to be one of our eating places a few more times during our trips! Sorry Johnny Rockets!

Note to self: before making right turn on red-look for sign that says “no turn on red” Naturally hubby will NEVER forget this and went out of his way to even tell our waitress!

Holy C the park was PACKED!! Now I remember why we never go to the park in July. My bad!
The morning started out on the cool side but didn’t take long for it to turn toasty humid. Something about humid weather and a gazillion people. Blech
Towards noonish the waits for the rides varied from 2 hours for Maverick and 1.5 hours for Raptor. We took advantage of that and just walked around the park. By the time we left people were still coming in, the main lot almost full, and they were already parking on the marina lot! Yikes!
I felt so bad for the employees knowing they had a very busy Saturday and now faced with a very busy Sunday too.

Normally the drive to and from the park doesn’t phase me all that bad but since we’ve made a few trips to KI, (1.5 hours one way) now the drive seems forever! For trip home, makes things worse when your co-pilot is asleep!

All in all, despite the crowds it was a great trip! Any day a Raptor ride is included is a great day for me!

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

My wife and I were there yesterday with our two kids. We got there at 11 am and left when the rides closed at 10. Maybe its just a matter of expectations, but we thought the crowds were not too bad. My son and I waited an hour to ride Maverick and the line appeared to be the same length later in the day when we went by. MF was a hour (but we waited about 90 minutes total for the front seat). Mantis was 45 minutes. We walked on Wicked Twister and Blue Streak. We didn't ride Dragster but both times I walked up and looked at the line, it was less than 90 minutes. Midways were not very crowded all day. Main midway had a lot of walking room. And the dragster midway which is typically packed with people wasn't difficult to navigate.

And we thought the weather was as good as you could hope for in late July. It was not unbearably hot and the humidity was pretty low with a good breeze much of the day.

My son and I also rode Maxair for the first time yesterday (waited a little less than 30 minutes). From the ground, the ride looked interesting to me. But it actually was more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

My wife and daughter do not like the big drop coasters (for my daugther, its really any coaster other than Woodstock Express or the Iron Dragon). So my son and I toured the bigger rides much of the day, we rode some rides together and then I went on several rides with my daughter.

All in all, a good day at the park.

I think the perception of the park being so busy is because alot of people on these boards primarily go early and late in the season when the crowds are nonexistant. In May and Early June, as well as Sundays in September, it can be common to have no more than 5-10 minute waits on all rides (Maverick excluded for the time being).

You are right... for a weekend in July your day wasn't too bad. But in the perspective of the whole season, it was a very busy Sunday.

We typically only go to CP 1-2 (sometimes 3) times a year. And it varies what time of year and which day of the week we go. So we hit some days that are more crowded than others. My kids decided Saturday afternoon that they wanted to go to CP yesterday so we just rolled with it. I was worried about what the crowd and temps would be like when we pulled into the parking lot. In general, I think its better to go in with the mindset that there will be a big crowd. Seems to me that more often than not, the crowds are big and the waits are long for the biggest rides.

And in the 40+ years I have been going to CP, I have never seen 5-10 minute waits on all rides. And I have gone to the park early and late in the season and everything in between. I would love to be there on a day like that though.

I'm with GoBucks89. It's all a matter of expectatations. I was there yesterday along with Adam, and we managed to get quite a bit of riding in despite the crowds. And the weather was perfect. Humidity wasn't bad and there was a nice breeze most of the day.

And despite Dragster being rather temperamental through the later part of the day, we still had a good day.

Yeah sounds like you had great time, despite the crowds. I was the same way back in May with all the school kids making the park packed, we rode stuff that didn't have a line and so on. I'm the same say, every trip I got to get something from one of the stores, my favorite is speed zone.

Yup and that is exactly what we are used to so it did seem very crowded to us!
Our goal wasn't to ride all the rides anyway, it was to just enjoy the park and the time together, which we did!
(oh yea and for me to get at least 1 Raptor ride naturally!)

I'll admit that the sequence of downtime and peoples reaction was quite enjoyable.

And getting the last train of the night only proved how well patience pays off.
