Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

Great pictures. I highly recoded everyone go and see this. It's open as early as dusk. But, I think it looks better the darker it gets. After seeing it on Friday and Saturday night, I was very impressed. It has far exceeded my expectations so far. And Lance said they aren't done with it yet this year. They are still waiting for more electronics to come in. Plus, they said they have more idea of how to expand/improve it for the future.

Can you help me in a fund raising event for "Give Kids the World"?
It's easy, any amount would be great. Every penny counts.

Really nice pictures. I was very impressed when I walked through it last Saturaday. Even though the photos are very great, thanks Walt, you have to walk through it to get the whole experence.

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

I haven't seen it in person, but here's my thoughts anyway.

The stuff not including Peanut's characters looks great. The trees especially. I can't wait to see it in person.

The stuff including Peanut's characters looks like they spent the last couple holidays stealing people's front yard decorations. The inflatables, ok, they look better than trying to do the same with wire-frame, so I won't knock that, but c'mon, with the Easter eggs. The best you can do is buy some crap on clearance from Meijer? Now, if those same eggs were covered with a couple hundred LEDs so the whole thing was lit up color, THAT would be awesome.

Took in the TSE last night at 11 walking back from the last train of the night on Maverick when the entire park was quiet. The snow machine was a neat touch. I was half expecting a Screamster to jump out as we passed the Pumpkin Patch float. Thanks for the nice pics!

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

Actually I was waiting for the Screamster jump near Frontiertown where the oh so familar sight/sound/smell of the fog machine greeted that end of the trail.

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

I've developed a love/hate relationship with that fog machine. There's just something not right about seeing and smelling that fog in Fright Zone and not getting Fright Zone. Oh well, less than 100 days till Halloweekends starts!

Anyhoo, those pictures came out really great. I still say anyone who is crazy for Starlight Experience needs to check out the Toledo or Columbus zoos in December for their lights. I think the only reason I was underwhelmed with Starlight is because I had the zoo lights as a precedence.

Note: "underwhelmed" does not mean I didn't like it. It's not bad at all.

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

Ok, I may get slammed for this, and it's totally possible that still pictures aren't doing it justice, but this just seems kinda cheesy to me. I mean, it's basically Christmas lights strung up in trees. I could do that in my front yard, but I'm not a world class amusement park.

Am I missing something here?

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

^The difference is the sheer number of lights that are up in the trees and the fact that they are entirely surrounding you along with the colored spotlights and music playing in the background. It really is an 'experience' as opposed to your average Christmas light display.

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

It really is an immersive experience. A few years ago I took the family down to see the drive-through Christmas light display at Ogelbay, WV. We were disappointed. When I saw what CP was doing, I realized that this was what I had been hoping for.

Re: Starlight Experience photos posted to gallery

Holy Mustard, the pictures are not doing it justice. You have to walk through it yourself, and see it in person. You will quickly change your mind about it being cheesy. I first experienced the Starlight Experience on Tuesday night, and it is amazing. It is absolutely beautiful.

I believe that winter is definately my favorite. The falling foam snow effect was really cool. The music is a great touch as well.

I have to admit, I was afraid that it would look tacky during the day. But unless you are staring at the trees like a crazy person, you will not even notice the lights.

Cedar Point did a really great job with this!
