Find out what it takes to be Army Strong at Cedar Point

U.S. Army's Strength in Action Tour will be at Cedar Point June 18-21.

Cedar Point Press Release

For four days, guests at Cedar Point amusement park/resort in Sandusky, Ohio, will have a chance to see if they have what it takes to be Army Strong.

From Thursday through Sunday, June 18-21, the U.S. Army's Strength in Action Tour will be located near the Wicked Twister roller coaster. The exhibit will be in operation from noon to 8 p.m. each day.

The exhibit will include many interactive activities to test guests' abilities and provide a glimpse of what it's like to be a soldier in the U.S. Army. Flight motion simulators, robots, physical fitness tests and even Guitar Hero will all be available to Cedar Point guests age 16 and older, free of charge.

In the Strength of Body display, guests will be able to see if they meet the physical fitness standards needed to join the Army. Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and even a rock-climbing wall will test their physical strength.

Guests will be able to board a flight motion simulator and explore the technology of U.S. Army aviation in Strength to Soar. As the simulator rotates 360 degrees, guests will be able to see and feel what it's like to fly in an Apache helicopter.

The Strength of Team exhibit will allow a group of up to five people to participate in a life-like military combat convoy simulator that emphasizes the importance of teamwork. The simulation, based on an Army "High Value Target" extraction mission, is action-packed and very realistic.

Guests will also have an opportunity to work with a real "Packbot" robot, maneuvering it through an obstacle course in Strength of Technology. The "Packbots" are used to dismantle bombs in the field and play an important part in keeping our soldiers safe.

For guests who want to test their Guitar Hero skills against a friend or even a U.S. Army recruiter, the Rock Strong display will be a hit. Guests will be able to display their gaming abilities on stage.

This month marks the Army's 234th Birthday Season. In June 1775, the Continental Congress created a volunteer army of 16,000 soldiers to defend the newly formed nation.

This sounds like it will be pretty cool. I would like to fly the simulator. I wonder how busy it will be on Thursday. It could be a long line.

Peace, Mikey

They had this at the auto show, and what concerns me is that they market the Army as a big game to young people. I think that's a bit dishonest.

Indeed. Kind of insults the "Army Strong" slogan, if you ask me. But I suppose it promotes the Army nonetheless.

Re: Find out what it takes to be Army Strong at Cedar Point

I understand that this exhibit was originally slated for Michigan's Adventure but a nasty P.R. flap developed over how much to charge the soldiers running the exhibit to enter the park.

Apparently it takes at least $25 dollars to be Army Strong...No exceptions!
