A little breezey on 10/2/2015

When I make plans to go to Cedar Point I go regardless of the weather - many times I have been rewarded with a clearing sky and a nearly empty park. This past Friday (10/2/15) was no exception - I went despite the high winds - hey, the might die down.

Wow, that was some breeze off the lake. I usually drive up the Chausee to get to the park - but there was so much water (and sand and driftwood and rocks and hunks of breakwall) being tossed onto the road that after maybe a quarter mile I turned around and went back to US6 to go to the main entrance and then drove around to Hotel Breakers. While circling the park I saw Blue Streak, Rougarou, and Wicked Twister running. I was with a non-season pass holding friend and we decided it wasn't worth the price of her admission to just walk the park and maybe get to ride one or two coasters if they kept running.

We walked around the hotel checking out the fall decor in the lobby and the bats in the rotunda, and the waves crashing on the beach. The sky started to clear to some extent but that wind never did let up. Went to Berardi's for dinner as a consolation prize.

No thrilling coaster rides were had but the car getting batted around on the freeway going home was white knuckle enough.

I had thought it would be fun to go Friday becasue it was our anniversary and we were at CP on our wedding day but we ended up having other things come up(family from out of state, kids leaving for a hunting trip)and I guess it was for the best. I've seen video of someone driving down the chausee Friday and it was quite exciting but I have experienced lower intensity but similar myself before. I've had the waves crash over my car but never dexperinced theroad debris. This morning there was still alot of dirt and standing water in the road. The beach is messy and has big chunks of I guess shorline from somewhere else scattered all over the place along with yucca plants now that the water's gone back down. From Magnum I sould see someone's busted up row boat washed up on the beach.

Cool and possibly damp, but tonight looks better than last Friday.

Wish I could go tonight but doesn't fit in with our work schedules. This would be a perfect night. Tomorrow being the Saturday of Columbus day weekend I'm going to have to think really long and hard about whether or not to attempt that.
