Alcohol permitted in queues this year.

An interesting new policy change this year at Cedar Point. They will now allow alcohol to be consumed in the queue while waiting to ride.

To me it's not that big of a deal I suppose, other than it gives people more of a chance to drink continuously rather than only being able to drink while out of line.

this means eather 2 things

1 a bad disision for the point as disorderly behavior in lines goes up

or

2 it is a fun time watching the drunks try to navigate through the que

Attempt to raise in park spending?

I think this is a decent policy change. Countless times while working at the park, I would see someone with a full beer come up to the queue, and after being told they couldn't bring it in line, they would chug the whole thing in a matter of seconds. I think it's smarter to just let the guests drink throughout the line, as opposed to chugging, getting in line, and then throwing up.

I never understood what the reason was for not allowing in lines anyway...

PS - Bryan, did you get a text message this morning with this news? ;)

Interesting change. While I doubt there will be any real problems, I can see some pretty obvious issues here. For example, is there a limit to how many beverages someone can bring into the line with them?

I can just picture a not-so-jovial mulletted fellow with a wagon full of brew getting into a 2-hour Maverick line...

i think there will also be a rise of people trying to hop out of line to get beverages and only leave 1 person waiting then try to get back in

Where was this change noted, Loopy?

Loopy's avatar

Mulletted? Did you make that up? You should turn it in for a new word of the year! :)

I'm pretty sure you can't take a wagon into the queue of Maverick. ;) Now if he wanted to fill his pockets, that's another story.

^ I got this information from an employee going through orientation.

Maybe they will have vendors selling beer in line now? Perhaps that's the reason for the change?

Maybe they have a new sponsor for the park this year?

What do you have against mullets man?

djDaemon's avatar

Now that would be something - both the vendors as well as a new sponsor.

New for 2008! New kids area, brought to you by Anheuser-Busch!

I've got nothing against mullets, Ben. Just those who have them. ;)

that would make the parents happy ;)

The same thing can happen now with the vendors selling soda/water in the lines now... I don't see how it's any different with beer... plus you know it will make the park some money (7.00 for a beer).

And for anyone who wasn't aware, you ARE permitted to stop and get a soda and then go back to where you were in line.

You are NOT permitted to leave the queue and then go back to where you were.

I'd have been pissed if any employee "stoped" me. ;)
