Anyone new to or returning to merchandise?

Hi! I was just wondering if there was anyone who is new to the merchandise department, or if there was anyone returning to merchandise? I'm going to be working at the Cedar Creek Trading Company in Frontiertown. I've been in merchandise for 6 seasons now, and it's really a fun department. I will be the store's TL for the second season, and I'm looking forward to the 2011 season!

I was just wondering since you have worked there so long do you know when calls for food service and merchandise usually go out?

I just got my call from my manager Friday, so they're in the process of going through all the applications they've received. There's 3 area managers in merchandise, and they're wroking as quickly as possible to get to everyone. The phone interview takes about 15-20 minutes, cause there's several questions they have to ask you. As for foods, I think it's pretty similar to merchandise. If you applied for a position in merchandise, you might get a call from games too, because they have the same divisional manager.

Ok sweet! But your a returning employee and this is my first time signing up for foods and merchandise. Soo Should I be expecting a call in the next week or 2 once they get through the returning employees?

Because my app hasnt even been reviewed yet.

It depends on when you put in your application. If foods was your first choice, they will be the ones who will call you first. By now there's probably hundreds of apps the managers have to go through, and it does take time. You should see that your app was reviewed by one of the foods managers like in the next few weeks. Merchandise alone hires over 800 employees, and I'm sure foods hires as many and more. I can say with pretty good confidence, you will be hearing from them very soon. Just keep checking the website.

I haven't been hired yet but I have an interview this upcoming Friday with merchandise, and I'm pretty confident =]

Are you going to be living in the dorms?

Cool! Surf Shop is pretty fun, I got to cover there a few times. Since I'm a TL now, I don't get to do that anymore. I pretty much have one shop to run, and I stay there. But I do enjoy my job a lot! It was pretty hot last summer and Soak City was busy, and so was the Surf Shop, so you'll never be bored. For the person being interviewed, who's doing the interview? I know all the managers in merchandise, and they're all great people. Im sure you will do fine, and welcome to the merchandise family.

I'm pretty sure I'm being interiewed by Sam Bryant. Since I live within 1 hour of the park I'm heading to Cedar Point on Friday to have my fate determined ;) And thanks! I loo forward to being part of the family!

I'm pretty excited to see other people in merchandise on here because most everyone else seems to be working on rides. My form says Ryan Reeve is the one who did my application. And I've already definitely gotten the job - they just have to run my references and do a background check. The Cedar Point thing says that the uniforms are themed - what do they look like??

Soak city uniforms are black with parrots and flowers on them. here is a picture http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/UserImage.ashx?id=204

Hey Scot! What's with the grill cook at Joe Cool Cafe? You went to foods for the 2011 season? Well, hope you have a great season, and I'll prolly see ya when I go past your restaurant on my way to the caf. Now for the new merch people, Sam Bryant is my manager too, he has the frontiertown shops, trail shops, and ride photo. You'll like him, he's very nice. Ryan Reeve was my manager when I was TL at Snoopy Boutique. He's also a good manager, and funny, you'll like him. I'll prolly see both of you guys at some point, again, welcome to merchandise! You'll have an awesome summer at the greatest amusement park in the world!

Thanks for the picture! I guess those aren't too bad. And they're with khaki shorts right? I've seen those ride ops jummper things girls have to wear, so I'm pretty excited ours aren't like that at least! haha

Yes they are khaki shorts.

Well, basically they ask you if you can be flexable with your hours, can you stand for long periods of time, are you able to bend and reach, lift about 20lbs, like when the shops get an order from the warehouse, you might have to lift the box, to open it and check it in and then put it away. Don't worry the boxes aren't extemely heavy. There's about 30 or 40 questions they ask you, they're all yes or no. Your supervisor or team leader will show you everything you need to know. It's very simple, you won't have any problems catching on. They'll also show you how to run the registers. You'll always have something to do, and you won't be bored. It's really fun, and you get to meet guests from all over the country. Have a great interview!
