Blue Streak Future

It appears that in the (not too distant future) that there will be many changes stretching all the way from the pavilions in the front of the park through Blue Streak midway area and all the way back to the old wildcat and Good Time theater location. Obviously this is plenty of room to add a new coster and change the overall appearance of this entire side of the park, I'm wondering what will happen to Blue Streak? I feel this is an important (and fun) coaster to Cedar Point, but it is getting older and the lines are getting shorter and shorter. If future developement in this area is to be used in its entirety, then Blue Streak might be in the way. One thought that came to mind would be to re develop Blue streak and build on it sort of a "twisted colossus" idea but have a whole new area of the ride with a lift hill heading towards good time theater then as it races back it will go up a second lift hill (the current Blue Streak) which would ultimately more than double the size and modernize Blue Streak.

I think that the area will get an overhaul and no longer be a dead end. In my vision, I can see a new path being constructed with Perimiter road being re-routed and the Marina entrance connecting the new area. The new traffic to the area will put many more riders on Blue Streak for years to come.

there are proably going to get rid of alot of stuff like the caldlac cars both of them up front. dodem might go also.,blue streak is pretty old and not as popular as it us to be would not surprise me if 2015 they would shut it down forever.by unpopular you go on it after 6 and it is walk on. the fast carusel might go to.

they proably would not rmc blue streak if they are going to rmc something then it is going to be mean streak. blue streak is a classic they proably would not rmc it. cloussous was also a classic but it had alot more thrill to it. my point is they are going to rmc the bigger badder woodie.

I think it's safe to say Blue Streak isn't going anywhere. If there are indeed plans to open up the area, I'm sure they'll be worked around Blue Streak, and updates to the area would draw a larger number of people to the ride.

Blue Streak is a very narrow coaster and is flanked by the Marina and Raptor on either side. The Marina/employee parking lot is already limited, building into it is probably not a good idea. I don't see it getting replaced in the near future due to the space available. It may not be one of the most intense coasters at the park but don't forget that there is a large amount of people who prefer a more gentle ride experiance, especially those new to rollercoasters and those who are not physically able to ride the others. Of the two woodies, BS is much more smoother even after 50 full seasons.

I can see an overbanked turnaround for a potential coaster flying over the quene, station, and the bottom of the lift hill because BS is low to the ground in that area and there is space for supports but Raptor's mid course brake run and associated turn might be in the way of that.

Even after 15 years of running this site, I don't understand how people are always making the leap to tearing things down that work fine, or that there is such a precious need for more room that something is in the way.

There is no chance that we would see the loss of Blue Streak, or Cedar Downs as someone else suggested. Both of these attractions have high levels of historical significance to the park or the industry and are becoming more and more rare. Opening up the area and adding a new attraction would draw more guests to the area and increase ridership for BS by increasing guest traffic alone. Cedar Downs has a very small foot print that would be difficult to fit a new attraction into. I would also assume that it has decent ridership because of its capicity vs other flat rides in the park. Cadillac cars I could see being relocated to another park based on their capacity.

Raptor is going to be torn down as well based upon this logic, I can't tell you how many times I have walked onto Raptor after 6 PM. Heck, on the 4th of July last year my wife and I rode Raptor 4 times in about 20 minutes and that is on the 4th of July folks. The popularity of Raptor is therefore most definitely not what it used to be, Talk about freeing up space in that area, just look at the footprint of Raptor compared to Blue Streak and it is a no-brainer that Raptor wont be flying much longer.

IMO, I don't see a need to remove Blue Sreak or Raptor. Even if the ridership(on some occasions)is lower than in previous years, they are there for a reason. Maybe some modern improvements or re-configuration, but not removal, might be in order. When rides are planned and built, is there ever consideration for expansion to the original structure? Or is that even possible? Example-increasing Blue Streaks first hill by 50 feet?

Raptor is not going anywhere. Not only is it one of the most popular roller coasters in the park, but it's one of the most popular in the world. You might walk onto Raptor at 6pm but you certainly don't walk onto it at 11am. That just has to do with the flow of the guests, not the popularity of the ride.

You might want to check the batteries in your sarcasim detector.

The world huh? There a great many roller coasters in this world.

And Raptor is #35 on the CoasterBuzz 100.

Ok, fair point, you made a poll, and it exists, so let's look at that. Regarding the true "world view" of that poll, it would almost beg the question "All of the rides seem to be in the United States. What's up with that?" An answer to that could possibly be "About 93% of the audience at CoasterBuzz comes from the United States. It would make sense then that most of the rides the audience has taken a spin on will in fact be in the United States."

That being said, if we were to just look at CP coasters on that poll, Raptor is 6th on the list, meaning of the 13 "non kiddie" coasters at CP, it weighs in at the 54th percentile. Barely over the halfway point doesn't really jibe with being "one of the most popular roller coasters in the park."

Don't miscronstrue though, even though it jerks you like a rag doll at the end, it's still a really fun coaster, just not one of the most popular in the world, nor at CP.

I think what Scott is saying is remove the section BEFORE the first lift hill (the turn) and put in an RMCed area where GTT was located, then make that track return to a second lift hill (the current lift hill) and resume as a normal woodie from there (the current Blue Streak). I thought that was a really cool idea.

Blue Streak shouldn't be touched at all. It's fine the way it is. It's a classic that could very well last another 50 years.

The same should go for Mean Streak. Let that ride celebrate 25 years before it gets modified. If money wasn't a factor, I would say re-do that last turn on Raptor. That last turn before the station hurts depending on where your sitting. I wish it was more gentle like Banshee is.

Seriously though, make the midway look nice (Gemini Midway used to look like crap), connect it to Celebration Plaza, add a rollercoaster, maybe some family rides, and MOVE dogem. I don't see them removing Dodgem but with the width of that Midway it could be in a better place where it looks less dated. Heck they kept Monster, why would they get rid of their last Dodgem? On that note I will die happy if they restore Calypso to its original glory.

Also for the love of god just get rid of turnpike cars already. Atleast the other car attraction looks better and is in a better location.
