Boneville

Do you guys think they will ever make a new theme for that part of the train ride or maybe do some updates?

Nope.

Yes. I think they will maybe do something.

Maybe not.

As long as they always keep the dude humping the fence, it's all good.

I noticed the last time i took a train ride that hardly any of the bone people were moving or none of the music was playing at all! Made it seem pretty dead (pun intended). anyone else notice this?

They were doing the required visual scan before they could start. Which is kinda tough when ya ain't got eyeballs.

^Except the rail worker with the spinning hat.

^^Everything seemed working last time I went through.

OP: No. Don't think there will ever be any updates.

Well...they don't call it boneville for nothing.

I'm glad Boneville's still around and "mostly" kicking. It's one of the few fond childhood memories of the park I have that are still there.

I wish they could get some of the "masking" of behind-the-scenes stuff back, though. For example, better hide the view of the P&D backlot behind the fence, and better hide Rougarou behind the (sometimes) burning hotel. The ride is probably too close to do anything about that, though. [Before Mantis was built, fire used to shoot out of the roof of the building as well.] Too bad they don't bring back "dude fishing on the raft by the trestle." I don't think he was by SRF this past Halloweekends, either.

What I really miss is the classic music (Hot Time in the Old Town and When the Saints Go Marching In) from the scenes.

It hasn't been entirely abandoned--since they added the sawmill scene sometime in the last (many) years.

I know what would help around Rougarou....fog in the spaghetti bowl! :)

On a serious note, Boneville is typically working on all cylinders whenever I visit, so as much as I complain about theming and things not being kept up, I have to give credit where credit is due. Like you said, Western Cruiser, Boneville is part of my earliest memories of visiting Cedar Point, and I feel lucky that it is still (mostly) around to share with my daughters.

I got a fever. And the only prescription is more fog.

I wish the old music could come back as well. Why was it changed in the first place?

I believe some of the music is still working. At least "I've Been Working on the Railroad"... Love the "old-timey" recording. As several have said, Boneville is one of my childhood memories of CP that still exists.

It's not the same version of "I've been working on the railroad." They swapped it when they changed the other music..i.e. "hot time" and "Saints."

The old music is so burned into my memory that the new stuff just doesn't feel right. Is it possible that the old recordings were "lost" at some point? Was someone in tech services just wanting to change things?

I don't know if the park still owns the recordings, but there are copies of them floating around.

I haven't ridden through Boneville this year yet, so I don't know for certain, but is it possible they replaced the speakers? Originally, all of that stuff was blasting through horns, as was a lot of the CP midway music, but they've been slowly but surely replacing everything over the last 2 years.

I've noticed they've switched brands again - They were on a Community kick for several years, starting with Dragster, I do believe.. now they're using One Systems, but they still used Community Commercial in the Breakers renovation.

The Fun TV setups appear to be using JBL, and Luminosity appears to still be using EAW. The boardwalk on the beach used to have Bose environmental (original 151's, I believe), but it seems they've got a mash up of brands at the moment.

Anyway, where I'm going with this - the swap has brought full-range to areas where we are using to only hearing horn-driven highs, so it may be the same recording, but it is now a much more full sound.

I could be wrong, as I said - I haven't seen it yet, but now I'm curious.

The songs are not the same.

Although never thought that they may have switched to better quality recordings due to new speakers.

I assume they would be able to reuse the old recordings with any new sound system. It is apparently a matter of the old recordings being lost (which seems unlikely if copies can be found online you'd think the park would be able to hold onto such things) or someone deciding that they wanted different music for whatever reason.

Yes they could play those recordings through the new sound system, but the quality is low. Maybe they could of had them remastered, but instead chose to replace them. All speculation.
