Bring a friend discount?

shamrockcb's avatar

Sorry to bring this up again but has anyone heard any rumors about discounted bring a friend days this fall (for passholders)? The park was very generous with several 19.99 bring a friend passes and I'm hoping to take advantage of them!

Thanks for any info, I keep checking the site and can't find anything. I wish I had old newsletters saved to see when this is typically announced.

Sept 4-7 is indicated,I'll be contacting CP thru their 'contact us' to get info on it as to see for what price I can get friends in.

I kind of have a moral dilemma concerning the bring a friend discount weekend. A co worker friend of mine asked me about it and asked me if i could get him and his wife in for monday labor day. And i said sure that would be fine. We could hang out and ride some coasters and have a good time. Then he starts inviting more people like his sister and brother in law and all their kids and I;m thinking to myself that I really don't want to hang out with his whole family all day, especially with kids. I'm so used to doing cedar point by myself that Its really a drag for me to hang out with a huge group like that. What should I do now? Any suggestions?

Split up and go do your own things? And I think there is a limit of 4 tickets for the discount. You could tell them that and maybe that will make them not bring so many people with them.

Limit is actually 6..

I'd say get him the 2 that you originally agreed to. If he wants to bring more people, that is on him.

And I wouldn't plan on spending the day with them at all.. Maybe meet up for a bit now and then or something, but otherwise just do your own thing.

It's not "Bring Your Friend(s) and Spend the Whole Day With Them Day", it's just "Bring a Friend Day". The idea is to get passholders to bring people they know out to the park who might not otherwise visit by giving them a discount on admission. The hopes, then, is to make up some of the difference on food, merch, and up-sells like FastLane.

Nobody cares if you split up after you leave the ticket window.

I once used a Bring a Friend deal at Kings Dominion with my uncle who had to sit (lay) out after one ride on Dominator. While he recovered, I grabbed a few rides solo. Nobody cares. :)

A) Check in with him to make sure he still needs tickets for him and his wife on Labor Day (or some similar phrasing that makes it clear you're offering two tickets only).

B) If the whole family shows up, after niceties inside the gate: "I'm sure you want to spend time with your family today; text me when you'd like to meet up for a beer." Go ride a coaster.

SO, just got an email from CP detailing events for labor day weekend, and now its saying for the bring a friend discount, that passholders can only bring ONE friend per day???? WOW....I thought it was up to 4 friends per day...anyone else see that?

Directly from the website:

Bring A Friend
Labor Day Weekend Ticket

Passholders share in all of the fun & thrills during Labor Day Weekend by buying up to six (6) Bring A Friend tickets for only $19.99 each - that's a $42 savings off the price at the park. Enjoy all of your favorite rides and attractions, including the Cedar Point's first floorless coaster, Rougarou.

Tickets valid Sept. 4, 5, 6 or 7, and must be accompanied by a valid Season Passholder.

Yes, the email did say that. Yesterday, if you clicked to purchase it said it as well on the interface. Now they've changed it to 6.

My likely silly question. Can I purchase the regular $39.99 Bring a Friend ticket at the gate?

I might have company tomorrow night, I may not, so I don't want to buy the ticket online ahead of time.

Thanks!

Yes, you can buy it at the gate. We did it for my son's friend in the summer and got him in for ERT!

I only ever buy those tickets at the gate. That way, I don't get hit with the "service charge" or "convenience charge" or whatever it is CF calls it. It does take some extra planning if you plan to be there when the park opens though.

I've bought them at the gate twice this year front and resort entrances.

If I buy a bring a friend discounted ticket online and give that ticket to a friend, do I have to be with him when he goes to use the ticket? How would the ticket taker know it's a bring a friend ticket? Would they even care? My friend wants to go Saturday but I can't but I'd like to get him a discount ticket anyways. Anyone?

You do need to be with a valid season pass holder for it to work. It will say that it is a bring a friend when they scan it.
