This might be a stupid question, but do the markings on the ground always mean that something will go there?

I've never really paid attention to them because they could mean anything, but people seem to get excited about them.

Im starting to think those construction marks in the parking lot are for the new specail parking that may be exanded in 2013..... That would allow more parking by the beach. As for near Space Sprial/ MaXair im not shure. It is Cedar Point so it could mean anything

^^

The markings are for underground utilities, so that contractors and construction workers know exactly where things are when they begin digging. So while something might not be going directly in that spot there normally is some type of work in that general area, even if it is just utility maintenance. Normally large groups of utility markings around CP tend to point to where next years ride will be constructed, hence why there is such a big emphasis on finding them on opening day/weekend.

The markings in those photos are for electrical and telecommunications (red and orange respectively). Those are fairly shallow buried utilities, I would start getting excited when green and blue (sewer and drinking water respectively) start showing up, as these are normally buried a little deeper.

I would doubt that they would add more parking at this point. They always seem to have plenty and haven't ever had a problem making you walk 1.5 miles from the back of the lot to the entrance gate.

If you're smart..... Soak City parking.

Is there any specific color that is actually ride markings where a ride will go, or are all the colors just sewer, electrical, etc.?

Thank you for the answer - I've seen flags and spray paint pretty much every time I go to CP but I never knew what they meant - so I appreciate the detailed answer.

Now I can get excited about it like everyone else : P

^^ Just utilities that are buried in the ground at this point in time. Later on you might start to see white lines which tells you where digging will be done, but until then only utilities that are already in the ground are marked.

Edit: Everyone is replying too fast! :P

The markings we saw during the PointBuzz off season tour of Cedar Point at Disaster Transport appear to have been for the ADA elevator that was installed.

An ADA elevator was installed at Disaster? I guess that ride isn't in jeopardy of being removed any time soon.

If they were making changes on their own to be proactive, I'd agree with you chief. I spoke with Rideman at the park yesterday and he seems to think the changes were a requirement and not voluntary.

Yea it seems this year they really made an effort acrossed the board to make the park more accessable to handicap and thats great! Im sure every ride/shop/restroom got the same treatment regardless of any upcomeing plans.

ADA made CP do the upgrades. I remember them talking about how each ride was going to have to be ADA approved with new elevators and ramps before this year started.

Surely most of the elevator hardware could be reused elsewhere in the event of DT's demise.

Brandon

I saw some white markings by dodgems. But they looked to be for a new queue or something

I saw those too.. I'm wondering if it's more ADA. The existing ramp that goes up might be too steep to meet ADA requirements.
