Cedar Point Positive Influence

I have lurked on Point Buzz for quite some time now, and as I read the various comments from everyone, I actually wonder how some people can be so negative about everything.

I really get tired of all the negativity at every decision CF makes.

I think it would be nice to talk about the positive impacts Cedar Point and other CF parks have had our lives and those of our families and friends as well.

I for one have loved roller coasters for many years, but I eventually got to big to fit in them, so I quit going to the parks.

I finally decided this past winter that I would set a goal for myself to work on my weight and be able to fit into the coasters this summer. I started in February, and by the time the park opened in May, I was able to get into many of the coasters. By the end of June I was able to fit into everything, albeit was a squeeze on MF, TTD & WT.

As of now, I have lost 89LBS, and fit comfortably with room to spare in everything.

I have had the summer of my life, as my adult son and I made many trips to the park whenever we could for a few hours here and there. We got lots of cardio in while enjoying the things we love the most.

I absolutely love Cedar Point, and enjoyed all of the coasters, many of the other rides and all of the summer and halloween shows and other attractions.

Yes, there are things I disagree with regarding some of the decisions CF has made, and there are things I too would like to see improved, but as a small business owner, I totally understand that you are always going to make decisions that will displease someone, and you have to do what is best for you and your company.

I am now healthier, with lots of energy to enjoy everything CP and have already purchased my Platinum passes for next year. It will remind me to keep on track all winter.

Would love to hear ways Cedar Point has had a positive influence on your lives.

Nancilee that is a great story! Congratulations on achieving your goal and thank you for sharing. This is a great idea for a thread and I hope others have stories to add.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I know it is not easy. It is nice to read positive comments--especially this week.

Wait. I thought we were all rabid fanboys who accept and praise everything Cedar Point does? :)

Anyway, congratulations on reaching your goal. :)

Congrats on the weigh loss. I know from experience it isn't easy. One of my motivations to lose 125 pounds in 2010 was to be able to ride all the coasters. Thats why there is 125 as part of my ID. Now walking around the park between rides keeps it off.

Great job on your weight loss. I've said it before, you have choices in life. I always get a kick out of guests who worry if they can fit on a certain ride, then in the next post bitch about CP not offering the buffet on the meal plan or what kind of soda they think the park should have.

I'm the "adult son" mentioned. The transformation is remarkable. We're really proud of her. :-)

Awesome photo! You two look like you're having alot of fun together. I wish my "adult" son would still have so much fun hanging out with me.

Thank you everyone for the compliments! I really did not post it to get praise. I wanted to explain why I love CP so much and really appreciate the little perks I do get as a Platinum Pass holder.

Hopefully there will be more positive posts forthcoming! Congrats to JK125 for also choosing to do what it takes to fit into the rides instead of complaining about not being able to.

As a whole, I love following this forum and appreciate many of your interesting thoughts and various perspectives on the coasters and CP in general.

I am thinking of joining a couple of the coaster clubs as well, and would appreciate any ideas as to my best options.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I am happy that our beloved park was able to help motivate you to improve your life.

Congrats as well! The positive influence CP has had on my family is connection! We have few things that meets all levels of interest, but CP hit the mark. I went as a young child with my family, as it was usually our only vacation we could afford yearly. A few times Geauga Lake was visited too. My older brothers got to go off by themselves, and I was forced(at that time, as the only girl) to ride with my dad. My mom was either playing games, enjoying park food or people watching. I learned to like it, then eventually love it. And I have passed that love along. We can talk for hours about CP, and it opens the door for other discussions.

Keep passing the fun along!

Same thing, went to CP with my family as a young kid and have been going ever since then. Some of the best family memories occurred at CP.

That is exactly what Ouimet meant about liking something as a kid and continuing that tradition as you get older and enjoying it with your own family and kids. And why it is important to have rides that multiple generations can enjoy together. It creates that connection between people of all ages.
