Coasting For Kids 2016

So I'm seeing reports in other forums and a few enthusiast friends...Coasting For Kids may not happen at KI and potentially the rest of the CF chain apparently? Not trying to start wildfire rumors, but just curious if this awesome event is over? If not I'm still going to throw my annual money to GKTW, they def deserve a donation along with some other stellar orgs, but it was always great to sit down and hear about the organization and stuff with other enthusiasts around in an all around great day.

If anyone has news I'm all ears.

Well, I was hoping to hold on to this until there was more of a story to tell, but...

Cedar Fair's relationship with GKTW is changing. The company will not host Coasting For Kids this year, and is instead taking on an exciting new reunion event for the village at a number of its parks. Cedar Fair's participation has helped raise more than $600,000 since 2009, and we're grateful for their leadership in getting the event off the ground. Their new role will provide closer interaction with wish families, and of course they will continue to participate in the Village's Passport program.

That means that this year's event will take place at different parks, with the potential to go global. One park has already committed, and we're having discussions to do more. The most exciting change is that this will no longer be a one-day event.

In other words... stay tuned!

That sounds awesome, and for such a good cause - I might have an excuse to go out and visit another park this summer. Does this mean you're not coming up to CP at all this year?

I'm not sure yet. We're looking at a big year for travel, and it gets expensive flying around three people. I'd like to, but we'll see.

Sad to hear the news but change is always good. Look forward in hearing the upcoming plans. BTW; Jeff and Walt keep up the great work on this site and all that you do with working with the different parks to host these events.

I am glad they will continue to work with them. I have a friend that had a girlfriend and her daughter with kidney disease and spent time down there several years ago before she passed. I remember them telling me about what a wonderful experience it was. Nothing but red-carpet treatment. It is always great doing things for a good cause. But, so much better when you personally know someone that has benefited from it!
