Cedar Point's web site has made a new marketplace section. You now have an account.

I like it!, even though I don't buy anything online because I buy everything that I want at the park.;)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Anyone notice that It's hard to find the CP Marketplace on Cedar Point website? Did they take it offline for a little while?

It's.. gone..

Shawn Meyer, seriously. Is there an old-assed thread left anywhere that you haven't dug up?

There are several threads that I haven't brought up. There are threads back from when Millennium Force was brand new and getting ready to open, but I'm not touching those threads. Back on topic though, why did they get rid of the Marketplace?

Actually, the topic is that they opened a Marketplace, in 2004. It's not about the current status of said Marketplace as of 2015, which is that they closed it.

That said, why else would a business shut down a business unit? It wasn't profitable at all, or it wasn't profitable enough to justify a distraction from the core revenue streams.

^ Yeah I know It makes so sense that I brought back this topic. I just didn't want to create a new topic when there's one already saved on here. So It seems to me that they just wanted to focus on selling tickets online rather than merchandise online. It makes sense to me because most people like me would rather look around at stuff before buying.

You really don't need to bring back a way-old thread just because it's loosely tied to the topic you want to post about. Generally, forums have a rough age cut-off where you don't bring back old threads no matter what. If you're bringing back something from 2010 or before, for instance, that topic is really stale. You're probably better off starting a new discussion unless you have to have the context of the old thread. Of course, Jeff and Walt are welcome to chime in about this however they wish.. but in general this should've gone in a new thread.

Selling tickets online and selling merch online are entirely separate.

Tickets, and passes, meal options, souvenir cups, etc. are processed through an outside company, Accesso. All Cedar Point's staff has to do is set up the options and Accesso handles the payment, then the tickets are automatically processed in CP's ticket system. Simple, and it pretty much runs itself.

Selling merch is not so easy. They have to maintain a physical inventory with an online inventory count. Then, they have to have staff physically pick those items and place them in boxes, which then need to be processed for shipping. This is much more hands-on and resource intensive. It also surely was not very popular; how many guests think to purchase CP merch online rather than in-park?

I would purchase merchandise if it were available online. Alot of times when I'm in the park, I'm on a tight budget. If I could purchase merchandise online at a later time, I would.

Did you previously purchase merchandise online? It was available for years.

The CP Marketplace site was poorly maintained and rarely updated. This can be said for the other marketplace sites for the other Cedar Fair parks as well. Other than the Dorney Park "we recycle" shirt a few years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they were rarely used.

I don't think it is a secret that Cedar Fair still does not have the greatest websites for the parks. It seems like the websites are somewhat disconnected from the park staff, but that is purely speculation. I do know that you could get to item pages which were no longer listed on the marketplace and it seemed like it would still let you place an order!

A few years ago, Holiday World had no online shop while Cedar Point did. Now the tables have turned...

I've been assuming right along that Cedar Fair's park sites are maintained by a dedicated corporate department, not by the parks individually and would be rather disconnected from the park staff.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

I hereby demand that he pay restitution for this terrible atrocity. Payment shall be made in the form of one Snickers bar to every person whose lives have been tragically inconvenienced here.

You're a clever one, eh?

Why would you create a new topic when there is already one out there? I have heard Jeff say multiple times to use the search bar under "Forum" instead of always making multiple topics that are generally the same. If a topic is not meant to be posted in anymore then it would be closed.

I'm with you CoasterKyle. That's what I try to do when I have a question. I try to find a topic that relates to what's on my mind.

Because you're not continuing a previous discussion but starting a new one...
