Dominator for sale... Kinda.

Tim, I've had responses from sellers like that before. And in my case they were seemingly unprovoked. Other than what you said in your post, could your question have been considered hostile? If, not, I'd say this guy's just an idiot. Why would you swear at a potential customer? Also, why would he have any paperwork from when it was put in?

It's all a moot point now since it didn't sell. But, I'll keep my eye out and see if a grey piece mysteriously pops up in a week. :)

Well, I had emailed Cedar Fair yesterday, but they only email that I could find aside from the investing ones was marketing@cedarfair.com.

I couldn't find anything else and their "Contact Us" all go to an automated form.

It wasn't meant to be hostile. But, here's what I sent him:

"I'm not sure how you got this "piece" of Dominator. But, it definitely is NOT from the coaster. Dominator's rail sections are silver, not yellow. So, the piece of metal you have must be from something else, because it's definitely not from the ride's track."

Does the rail piece look silver/gray to anyone else? It definitely appears to be yellow from that picture.

It looks yellow to me. If anything it might be dirty. The other thing, is wether it was cut with a saw or a torch, the end wouldn't be yellow. and I don't think the inside would be yellow either.

It looks like its dirt brown with a brush stroke of yellow on it. It doesn't really look silver or gray.

And the end (at least the top one) doesn't look like its been cut any time recently. If this was cut as part of the removal, it wouldn't have already oxidized, it'd be a bright metallic silver.

Well, the end facing up could have been the end of the track section - so it would have a finished edge. The one photo shows the section coming from the end of a track section. The cut end could be facing down. I guess it could be rusted silver with a brush stroke of yellow paint on it. Maybe it is real? Regardless, I won't be buying it. LOL!

I still say you should report him to Ebay. There's no reason to respond to someone that way....except that he's a 15 year old who's a tough-guy behind a keyboard.

How exactly do I do that? I don't see an abuse section other than spam.

Not sure. None of their categories seem to have anything that deals with an a-hole of a seller.

the tube looks legit to me

and the railings are from the Dominator line as I can see the welded piece of chain that was used to divert the line if needed

My signature was edited because it was more than three lines. I'm naughty!

Whether it is legit or not, what's the point? First of all, no one would want to buy from a seller that responds to emails in such a way. But mostly, why would somone honestly want to buy it? What are you going to do with it? Put it on your coffee table? When you have friends over you can say,"Look, I have a piece of Dominator on my coffee table." And then your friends would say,"Oh, really, isn't that nice. It just looks like an ugly yellow tube of steel to me." I liked the ride as much as anyone, but please! Honestly, I think the tube would probably be more useful simply as scrap steel.

I think this tube is legit. I saved the image and corrected the white balance using Photoshop, and the tube color is exactly as I remember the track color on Dominator. The yellow streak on the tube looks like some careless painting when the track tie was painted yellow.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^^ Some people collect things? Maybe that's why they'd want it? What's the purpose of collecting anything really?

I think its a phoney sale. If he is pose to have all the papers for it then why dont he have them on the buy page along with the track? And a seller would never talk that way without knowing he can get busted. And under 18 people arent allowed to sale things on EBay due to the credit cards and checks that maybe used in the buying. And Cedar Fair unless getting rid of a ride alltogether would never give it away or allow a contract worker to take a part of the coaster home. It doesnt show the part of the track he is selling on EBay and the pics and be fake cause they look too old. That and it could be pics from another site. I also dont see any wheel marks from the coaster cars and the track part is too clean. I am guessing alot have seen the sale and track as a phoney.

Can anyone identify exactly where on the ride those pictures are from? That might help to compare and contrast other images.

Someone could've easily edited the photo of the track on the ride to make it appear as though it'd been cut, when in fact it has not.Besides, since they're relocating the coaster to another park why would they allow a section of track to become damaged?

They may have had to cut a section of the track out to remove the first piece of the ride. Remember when they did that for the heartline replacement on Maverick? Or, they could have cut it out to smooth out a section of the ride? I'm not sure. Just guessing really. There could be a number of reasons why it might have been removed though.

Curious, but do the ride manufacturers usually paint the innards of the tube?

Just curious... any know what happened to the heartline roll section after it was removed?
Did they just scrap it out?
