Ever Run the Numbers?

Has anyone else bothered to add up their vists to see how much their admission avaerages per visit with their pass? Or how much they would have paid in parking if they hadn't gone with Platinum? Or just been a real glutton for punishment and figured out how much they spent going to and while in the park over an entire season?

With my Platinum pass if I average just Cedar Point visits I'm at $7.60 admission per visit. If I include all CP, Soak City and Wildwater Kingdom trips I'm down to an average of only $4.00 per park per visit. The amount of money I figure I probably spent on gas making these trips though is kind of scary. I didn't track exact mileage but I usually put $20 in the tank before I leave for CP and that's usually just enough for the round trip or I have a little left over when the prices are down so I estimated I've spent about $500 just on gas :( The good news is because of Platinum I was able to skip $375 worth of parking.

Our family of 4 (3 regular passes, one platinum) managed to make it to the park 22 times this season. (We are there every Tuesday and Thursday depending on weather. Then we go on Monday and Wednesdays when possible. Never weekends.) So, that saved us $330 in parking, and I figure we are at $6.64 per person per visit.

We are CP only - no Soak City or KI . . . yet. :)

While this is completely unrelated to the cost of admission or parking, I would also like to point out that this season we also brought home 17 Squid Hats. My young son became infatuated with these things and spent his allowance every visit. He'd pay his $5 and tell them to guess his birthday. So, if you count the losses, the games department made $110 off my family.

June 15-22 lighthouse point cabin $2450+
June 15-22 lighthouse point RV site $1050+
505 miles each way RV & car $450+
Platinum passes for 7 $1300+

Who cares how much I saved in parking.

(That's not including may, August visits either)

I used my pass a total of 18 times. 14 at CP, 3 at KI, and 1 at WWK, so that comes down to $10.55 per visit. I only drove myself once, so I saved $15 in parking. I mostly carpool to the park. My truck is old and gets bad mileage. I just get platinum for getting into other parks and the perks.

With Cedar Point, I was generally able to get it under $10 per visit when I lived there. This year, since we never made it to Carowinds or other CF parks as planned, we ended up seeing a cost of about $30 per person per visit. That's still a solid deal.

Our WDW cost is around $15 per visit with the increases in annual pass cost, but given the proximity to the parks, it would just seem weird to not be able to go any time.

I haven't run the numbers, but it would include a weekend at carowinds, a weekend at kings island, a couple drive by visits to kings island, and about a half dozen cedar point visits?

We spent $100 just in embroidered coaster patches. I have a lot of sewing and ironing to do this winter.

Got 26 park visits in in 2015, including 11 at Cedar Point, 8 at Michigan's Adventure, 3 at Carowinds, 2 at Kings Island, and 2 at Canada's Wonderland. Plus I have All Season Dining which I'd say averaged out to 1.7 meals per day. Paid $298 divided by 26 = $11.46 per visit.

15 CP visits, 4 soak city, 3 KI, 1 castaway bay and 2 Wild Water. That round out to about $7.50 per visit, don't know about parking, as I think the price changes at each location, and soak city usually is part of the day at CP. I'd say I kind of got my money's worth...

Last year, I got even better, with 14 at CP, 3 at all city, 4 at Wildwater, 2 at Canada's Wonderland, 1 at Carowinds, 2 at Kingd Island and 2 at Kings Dominion for about $6.50 per visit.

Well, being in the Marina all summer I have more park admissions then most of you. Running the numbers though, using the full Platinum Pass price as if I paid for the pass, my cost would round out to $3 per admission.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I got the most use ever out of my platinum pass in 2015.

I hit CP 8 times (i think, for some reason i'm foggy on my Point visits), WWK 5, KI 3, Carowinds and KD twice each, and MiA once. 21 admission scans. Also had season long dining so factoring that into my upfront cost. I averaged about $20 a visit when you add in some drinks (.99 refill cup) and the occasional non-meal plan food option.

I consider what I save in parking to break even with what I spent on gas. Overall, I feel like I get value out of my pass each season. I know there will be years that I just don't make as many trips or I focus on non-CF trips and don't get as much value. But 2015 was definitely a season to remember.

This was my highest year for CP trips. Closing day was #25 for me. Not all family members had that many. I didn't count my Soak City trips individually like I did CP but I guess we were probably at 10-12 easily plus I made 2 trips to Wildwater Kingdom.

I'm sure you more than diluted that figure with beer purchases. ;)

God I don't even want to know how much I spent on alcohol at Cedar Point. The new beer garden eats cash like nothing else in the park.

The Surf Lounge & outdoor fire pit cocktail service is a really good Credit Card eater as well.

(Once they finally started staying open later than 9pm.)

Yes, I have maybe 20 or more Surf Lounge souvenir glasses.

We as in a family of four, went 55 days to Cedar Point and 3 days at Carowinds. Also, we had All season dining plans. That works out to 3.37 a day for entry and meal cost was .905 per meal. I think we received our moneys worth.

After three trips I figured out that a Platinum Pass with dining plan would have garnered a discount. I can't say that it's a good deal because it is an amusement park after all (a park that I enjoy).

Next season I'll get the PPw/dining. I plan on 3 or 4 trips to Cedar Point, a couple to KI and one to Michigan's Adventure.

number of visits is in my sig, 2015 was the most ever-29,total of 394 visits,59,000 travel miles(more than driving around the earth at the equator TWICE.
