Haunted Attractions in Ohio ?

LOL. Yeah, she was absolutely terrified, and that was in the cartoony Pharoh one.

I guess I didn't realize she was that scared, Josh. Had I realized....I would have come up behind her and scared her as we exited the haunted house. :)

That would have been great. Maybe not so much for me, and she was still digging in to my arm until we got into the entrance of DT, but I would have laughed.

I keep trying to tell her that the more she does this stuff, the more she'll get over it.

If you don't get a chance to visit the Mansfield Reformatory over Halloween, they do offer ghost hunts during the summer where you can spend the night in the prison. You can find out more info on it here:

I went to their haunted house two years ago, and overall it wasn't that great. The theatrics they try and put into that place just can't compete with the rotting decay and the architectual splendor of the prison.

I totally agree TPolansky... The overall creepiness of walking through the building itself used to be the best thing about the "haunted house" they make every year... but it seems in the past few years they've added more 'theatrics" and "noise-makers" and actors, of course, so it's less of the fun creepy "wow this is an old, decaying prison" and more of a commercialized "haunted attraction"

(also) Sorry to have offended anyone working at mansfield... but maybe it was because we went on Opening night & they were just trying to work out the kinks, not too sure. we May go back to check it out later in the season, and we also Do plan on hitting the ghost tours next spring, but the over-abundance of sensors on the floor to trigger noises or something flying at people and the theatrics REALLY takes away from what it was back in 2000 when it felt like they'd let us in the building alone to wander & find our way out, which absolutely Terrified me. (and I Loved it) :-)

Happy haunting!

Like i said i think the prison looks awesome. I havn't ruled it out of a possible visit. Yet I fear more of getting lost out in a area I've never been even though i already have mapquested it. And it would be a little more further out of my way.

If your in Sandusky its really easy to get here. You jump on 13 and it leads you right there. You can see the reformatory from 13.

I said it earlier, but just for the repeat if any of you are seriously considering coming down here i'll come meet up with you and we can have ourselves a time. Just let me know :)

Currently on tour: Who knows where

I know it isn't close to Sandusky, but to anyone who is close to Columbus, PLEASE check out Dead Acres/Haunted Hoochie. It is such an amazing haunt and is in your face the entire 20-25minutes. The props are incredible and extremely intense!

I heard there's a haunted hospital where if you make it all the way through you can get your money back.

^ That used to be the rumor about 7 floors of hell, too. Apparently, that attraction actually really sucks. I'm saving my $20 this year, I guess.

It was a joke, e x i t. Cdrpointcrzy44 made a blog post the other day complaining about the urban legend of the haunted hospital that's too terrifying to make it all the way through.

It's debunked on snopes, actually. :)

^ Yeah, I realize that. My comment really wasn't toward yours so much as it was the 7 floors of hell.

Well, your an idiot. It'd be too hot to walk around Hell once you got past the 3rd or 4th level.

I know this is nowhere near Sandusky, but the Haunted School House (3 floors), and the Haunted Laboratory (4 floors), both located in Akron OH, are probably the best houses in Ohio. I have been to almost every haunted house mentioned in this forum, and they do not come even close to these two. Combined it takes about 45 minutes to go through, and I think somewhere around $20 for the two. Just my opinion...

^ I'll have to agree on that. I want go pay a visit to those this year, but Jen won't go with me, as she hates haunted houses. :(

I love them, though. They're definitely good in that "scare you till you laugh" sort of way. Not to mention, they're creepy as hell (for lack of a better term) because of the old buildings they are in.

Seriously, I'd go with you if it wasn't such a threat to my heterosexuality to go to a haunted house with one other guy...

I actually went to that haunted school, and laboratory this past saturday. It is 11 dollars for each house. We opted to go into the school, I personally found it very lame. It made me jump one time. Afterwards I heard the laboratory was the one to check out there. Unfortunately we did not have enough money to go through both and supposedly chose wrong. I was not impressed with the school at all however.

So whats this talk about the haunted hospital ?. Is this thing for real and if so does anybody have any information on it ?.
