Hotel renovations

Going to CP for the weekend. Staying at Breakers. Got the email today that the lobby is closed. So are all the pools except Breakers East. The Magnum entrance is not closed but requires you take a bus to get to. And Fridays is closed. The email recomends that Famous Dave's is a viable option. Well that is where I intended on eating. Gonna be a nightmare eating there now. So I check in at Breakers East. Only 1 access to the park. Kinda sucks that this isn't what I expected for my trip when I reserved it. Does anyone else have any info on what the state of the hotel is. Anyone stay there last weekend?

Not that it matters. Still going to have a good time and will buy 2 Platinum Passes for me and wife. Got 2 other tickets that were given to us. Our first visit this year. Just a little disapointed that what I expect from staying at Breakers isn't what I usually get. Can't I just take my pop-up camper up there and stay for 75 a night?

Im not sure why you think its going to be a nightmare eating. There are lots of food choices around the park. We ate at Famous Dave's last weekend without any issues.

The Breaker's renovation has been well publicized and there are some inconveniences but nothing that will ruin a trip. You can use any entrance to the park that you want.

Of course you can always see if there is an available campsite at Lighthouse Point if thats what you want to do. Its going to cost you more than $75 though.

The Magnum entrance is not that far from Breakers East. If you think it is too far to walk use the Resort entrance next to Windseeker.

Also, don't forget that Bay Harbor is also available for dinner.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Walked from east to the beach entrance with no problem this weekend. No issues getting to the Magnum entrance either.

Also, you will be able to apply the cost of the free tickets toward your pass. We always bring someone without a pass and apply their admission towards one of ours.

At least we can go back into the park once we reserve our seat. So what if there's a long wait.

The email I got stated that the only gate within walking distance would be the entrance next to Windseeker. The rest would require shuttle service. To me that would mean that we'll be quarantined in Breakers East. I can't really understand what walking distance is since we'll end up walking about 5 miles each day. It will be interesting to see what's going on. I'm dreading those late night rides on Mean Streak and then having to walk all the way to Windseeker to get out of the park.

My comment about camping for $75 a night is about something that is no longer available. The RV sites have been booked for months now. Nothing is going to ruin our trip. The weather is supposed to be nice. Worst case is that the park is really busy and we don't ride a bunch from 2 to 8.

After staying at Breakers and Camper Village for so many years without any major complaints it just seems that this time I payed for premium and got an email 2 days prior that says I'm getting construction zone. Nothing at the hotel is going to be open. No nightcap at TGIF. A very tiny hot tub. I will be happy to see the work done on the outside that they did last year.

The east pool was freezing cold when I stayed at Breakers 2 weeks ago. Wasn't really useable. The hot tub was hot Saturday, but somebody told me it wasn't hot at all on Sunday.

Sorry you weren't informed sooner about the TGIF closing. I was there October 12 for last call of the season. Looks like the Poolside deli will be the only food option in the hotel.

I'm not sure why you were told you needed a shuttle to get to Magnum entrance. Maybe part of the main parking lot is being blocked off? I can't remember the last time I used that entrance anyway...

I saw this as a perfect opportunity to finally try Lighthouse Point. I'll be in a cabin with my son and his friend for the first time ever this weekend. Should be a fun weekend!

Let us know what you think of the quality of the soft goods. They were (finally!) replaced this year or near the end of last.

I'm guessing this means Tomo and Perkins will be closed too?

Construction Update

Due to the ongoing renovation at the hotel, the main entrance and lobby are now closed for the season. Check-in will occur in the Breakers East Lobby. This closure will also affect TGI Friday’s, Tomo, Perkins and Beaches ‘n Cream. During this time the restaurants, our gift shops, the Main Pool and Tower Indoor Pool will not be available. The Poolside Deli and Breakers East Outdoor Pool will remain open. The outdoor pool and hot tub will be open weather permitting.

For your dining convenience, Famous Dave’s opens at 3pm on Friday and will be open throughout the weekend. Traditional BBQ fare, tasty sides, a kid’s menu and full bar service are available. Famous Dave’s is located at the Cedar Point Marina and complimentary shuttle service is provided.

The park entrance near Windseeker will be the only admission gate available within walking distance of the hotel. Other gates (Resort Gate near Magnum, Marina Gate and Front Gate) will require shuttle transportation.

We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you this season while we prepare to unveil a remodeled Hotel Breakers in the 2015 season.

The main parking lot at Breakers is closed for construction, only the east lot is open. To walk to the gate near Magnum would require walking along the road that goes around the main parking lot. There are no sidewalks on that road, I can see them not wanting pedestrians mixing it up with traffic so that is probably why they are saying to take a shuttle to the Magnum gate.

Yeah, judging by the areas closed off, you're going to have to use the shuttle or enter via Windseeker gate. That whole area is a mess.

I can't imagine what they were like before. We were in a standard cabin. The double bed mattress was quite firm. It was like a bargain bin mattress. I slept like a baby anyway, after closing out the park both Saturday and Sunday. I didn't try out the futons, but my son said he could feel the frame right through the mattress.

I'm not really complaining. We all had a great time and I like the homey feel of the cabin. The longer walk across the Soak City lot wasn't a big deal for me. My younger companions utilized the shuttle several times. I look forward to returning to Lighthouse Point next year!

You can also exit Breakers East near the poolside deli and walk the beach toward Bon Aire section. Then walk to the Magnum entrance that way. That's what we did this past weekend since we wanted to get Maverick first.

It was kinda neat to see the old section torn down to the studs and work being done. The pool is gone. I really can't complain about our trip much. It's not what I expected but I still got what I paid for. I'm glad their gonna replace the 25+ year old TV's and mattresses. Sometimes you have to sacrifice for progress. I'm sure the hotel will be alot better next time we stay.

Never tried to use the back entrance. Walked up front to enter/exit. You would have had to walk the road to the back entrance. Ate at Famous Dave's around 7 and had to wait 40 minutes. Wasn't that bad considering how busy the park was.

This was our first and only trip this year. Bought passes for next year. I didn't really care for Lake Erie Eagles but I liked Pipe Scream. I don't know why I never rode it at KI now. For a flat ride with a 5 minute wait it's a must ride.

Demolition has begun on new front entrance.

Are they only closing TGI Fridays temporarily for construction this year? or will it be closed for good?

I really don't see any point in closing Fridays as it's not in the way of the construction zone by the rotunda. I hope it opens next year.....

Fridays will be open next year. Fridays is surrounded by construction, it would be foolish to even attempt to keep it open.
