Hi guys my name is Brey and ill be processing in on June 10th and I'm just wondering what's the housing like ? I'm like super excited but nervous at the same time because ill be coming in super late , thanks in advance for any answers & tips (:

Small rooms with two or so other dudes somewhat college-esque in many ways.

Really small! DO NOT over pack! If you have someone coming to help you move in, make sure that they are prepared to take stuff back home with them. And DO NOT FORGET SHOWER SHOES, WHATEVER YOU DO! The showers here are terrifying, so be mentally ready for moldy ceilings and weave hair clumps clogging the drains.

Hey Brey, looks like you still have a few days left. I'll share my perspective, but bear in mind that my info is only current as of 2011, and I've heard there have been a number of changes. If anyone who works there currently sees something no longer true in this post, correct me!

A lot of this info depends on if you are male or female. I can't quite figure out from your name, so I'll just give info for both. I'm sure other readers will find this info helpful.

First of all, there are several different facilities:

Bayside: You won't get into Bayside. Some of the apartments have kitchens and this place is all-around most desirable, so it fills up before the park even opens for the season. (Leads and Castaway Bay folks snap them up.)

Cedars/Golds: The oldest, located on the peninsula. From the jobs website, it looks like Golds is gone and is currently being replaced. Cedars is males-only, Golds was females-only. These buildings have NO AIR CONDITIONING (or even heating). For this reason, they are the cheapest, despite the convenience factor AND the larger room size. Depending on your room, there will be 2-4 beds. I lived in 432 which had three beds (one bunk set and one solo bed). It's essentially living in the park and in my opinion, that is the truest CP experience.

Commons Dorms: By far the largest, there's a good chance you will end up in one of these. However, in my season, they were full by June, at least for males. There are more beds for females in Commons. When people talk about how tiny CP dorms are, they are thinking of commons. The room will have four beds (two sets of bunks) and they they take up half the room. There are lockers, a dresser, and a small desk, leaving just a little strip for walking. TINY. Also, they always seem to smell like bleach which is a huge turn-off for me. BUT, they are air-conditioned, which is why most people want to live here. Generally, guys' rooms only have three occupants while girls' have four.

Commons Apartments: Don't know a ton about these. 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms split between 11 people. Air conditioning in the living room but not the bedrooms. Don't see the appeal of this one.

So, if you are female, you will most likely end up in commons dorms. As suggested above, bring shower shoes and otherwise, bring as little as you can. I think you need a padlock for the lockers, and be sure to get one, because theft happens a lot. Minimize your amount of valuables. Some rooms have TVs and some do not, but there is always a cable hookup.

If you are male, you might end up in Cedars, but I say OWN IT. You get to live IN one of the world's best amusement parks. You get to live a five minute walk from your job, the cafeteria, the laundry place, and oh yeah COASTERS. Break time? You've got time to head back to your place for that one thing you need. Got the rest of the night off? Go change into your street clothes and hit the rides. Waiting in line for the shuttle from Commons? Forget about it. Yes it gets hot, but bring a box fan and just get used to it. Besides, you're gonna be hot all day at work, no sense in letting the dorms spoil you. I survived the summer without A/C, you can too.

(Side note, if you own a window A/C unit, you can pay to have it installed and pay extra to cover the electricity. Now you've got a cool dorm room that's INSIDE Cedar Point. Cannot hype this enough.)

Essentially correct.

I lived in the Commons Apartments the summer of 1980. While there was a box that blew air into the kitchen area, I am not really sure that it was really an air conditioner. One of my (fired) roomates tore the front panel off of it.

The "Sweeders" do have the advantage of being in the park, but they are hot and extremely noisy. Allowing a/c is a plus. By all means spend the 100 dollars for a unit.

And be prepared for a lot of fun!
