If You Read a Positive Comment About Today's Announcment...Post It Here

Seriously, I think it might be worth calling attention to the thud heard round the 'net. If a Dinosaur walks through the woods and nobody hears it...is it actually there?

To be fair, the reception to the announced racing slide at Soak City has been warm if not down right giddy next to the thoughts on "Gotcha Island".

(Darn...sorry about the typo in the thread title. I think Barney ate my "e".)

Good luck finding positive comments.

I'm pretty positive that everybody is negative...

I searched. But I positively can't find anything.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

I'm positively sure that my island home will be overtaken by dinos...

The same thing happened with WindSeeker. It will die down, I'm sure.

Here's something positive.

Dinosaurs Alive has been succesful based on reports from KI. As I said last night, there are rumors of an expansion to DA for next season at KI. So it's not like no one is going to see this. Plus its not like this is just a little walk thru. This takes between 30 and 60 minutes to go through.

$5 is not really too much when you think about it. Look at Challenge Park. 1 ride on the Grand Prix is $5. 1 ride on Ripcord for 3 people $45. 1 round of golf at the mini golf course is $5.95. So the price is pretty compareable to that of the other extra charge attractions. Look at the games even. Most of the midway games are like $1-3. So basically, if you skip 2 plays of the rebound game, you can go do DA.

I really think the only reason people are upset about this is because PWE is being taken out. I'll say im bummed the PWE. But im not devestated like others on this site are. Reading the first few posts after it was announced, you would have thought CF shot everyone's dogs. To all that say "Im not doing this. Im going to Wonderland next year. You wont catch me in this boring waste of space". What kind of comments are those? Great, you arent doing DA. No one was doing PWE either, so it all equals out. People only start ridding when rumors of it being taken out come up.

To everyone who is saying, "oh they snuck this under the radar cause they knew the fans were going to be mad". Please get a life. This was never going to be a huge announcement. No teasers, no constrution, hardly any markers. They could have announced these things whenever they wanted.

Lost in all of this DA hate, is the fact that Soak City is getting a new water slide. I havent seen any talk about that.

Yes, it will make money. That is a positive remark. And, I did mention that I think MOST people are more excited about the race slide than they are the dinos.

And, I think those remorseful of losing PWE aren't as much because of the ride itself (as others have attested the park has let it go anyway over the years) as much as they are losing a ride that EVERYONE could ride. Can everyone see dinos? Yes. At a cost.

I agree with firefox15 and Wicked Twister 90. I'm just waiting, and watching, keeping my mouth shut. . . oops i said too much :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

It's like what I said in the news forum; I can drive two hours to visit Dinosaurs Alive, ride Windseeker and ride The Beast, or I can drive two hours visit Dinosaurs Alive, ride Windseeker and ride Millennium Force.

I live in the Columbus area - If I didn't have a platinum pass, I'm not sure which park I'd visit based on what's new. Sure, Walt said Cedar Point's number one and two markets are Detroit and Cleveland. But the people in Columbus who are caught in the middle of Kings Island and Cedar Point can't figure out why both parks are adding the same new attractions (little do they know it's the same company now). You'd think someone at Cedar Fair would be smart enough to build different attractions at these parks (kinda like when these parks actually competed with each other) BUT then promote each others park. Basically this would give the "once a year" guest a reason to visit the other park and Cedar Fair would suddenly have a "twice a year" guest. Makes sense in my head. Not sure why they'd pass on that extra money.

Everyone COULD ride. But didnt. Thats the key to me. The more I think about it, the more I feel this is a non issue. People are not going to do DA because they think the dinosaurs are lame and boring. They'd rather have that HUSS Topple Tower or something. Well people were not going to do PWE because they thought it was lame and boring too.

Having a ride everyone can ride together is great. But if no one wants to ride it, then what the point of it?

I think the majority of people going to Cedar Point right now are thrill seekers, I know CP is wanting to attract families but right now I feel they don't have the rides or park to do it.. Most people get to the park once or twice a year and probably wont want to spend 30-60min not riding the coasters and rides they came for.

Kings Island on the other have is a great family park. They have one of the best kids areas in the world. (I believe they were voted #1 in amusement today) I can differently see them getting an attraction like this.

Basically I do see Dinosaurs Alive attracting families. not when a family of 4 has to pay $40 a piece than another $5 just for a dino walk through and a bunch of rides the little ones cant ride.

I would love to see CP get family rides and kid rides to attract families at that point something like thins would be welcomed. Right now.... well we will see.

You won't find many positive comments because the only people that know about the announcement are the fans and regulars. The main fan base of anything is always the hardest to please and this announcement does not really benefit them in any way.

I would imagine CP will just ignore all of the negative feedback and then feel great when 500 people visit Dinosaurs Alive on opening day.

I am happy about the Soak City addition. Racing slides have high capacity (something that Soak City is in desperate need of) and also are great to look at, especially if they are interactive. I would have loved to see a Proslide Tornado/Bowl slide, but a Racing Slide is a step in the right direction. I wonder if we will see a cosmetic upgrades to Soak City this year?

I agree with you. I think the racing slide is a great idea and long overdue. Still can't figure out why the water park "underneath" the coaster capital of the world doesn't have a Master Blaster...but the racing slide is a nice addition.

And, I thought of something else positive to say. I do like the logo for DA. There, see? I'm not completely unreasonable.

I think theming the island as "Adventure Island" has a lot of potential, actually...for a large variety of attractions.

Nothing positive about this from me.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Also a possible positive....some of those animatronics being used at STR's site to add to the theme. Or elsewhere around Frontier Town.
