Luminosity Testing?

I work night shift. I just happened to be bored and looked at the webcams this morning. It seems like they are testing the lights in the overnight hours. If you look at the cams you can see the blue lights and they change. I don's know why they would do this at 3-5am, but it looks pretty good from the dragster cam.

I suspect at this point they're probably working around the clock getting stuff ready. Don't they start rehearsal shows in just over a week?

Rehearsal's are already going on, they are currently in tech week. Most Luminosity crews are working a third shift to get everything ready in time so they do most of their testing when the park is closed.

You can't see how lights are going to look in the day time.

Not just 3-5AM. I walked through Celebration Plaza at 9:00PM on Tuesday and they were testing most of the LEDs and some haze. That alone looked pretty cool. I'm excited to see the works!

^ However, the sun does start to go down around 8:45-9 o'clock, while the park closed at 8 all week! I think that's what they're trying to say

Yesterday at closing time they were playing the transportation video that will be part of the show. The part I saw featured automobiles. It looked pretty cool, I imagine it will make a great backdrop to the lights, pyrotechnics, singers and dancers.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I was at the park today and it they were testing all of the music, lighting and especial effects. The music sounded funny like a karaoke track without any lead vocals (I guess they are having singers and dancers) but overall it looked absolutely amazing!!

leaving, about midnight, the MF after pass ride nite, looks like it was in full rehearsal, lights music dancers singer

Very impressive looking! My daughter(14) sat there for a good 1/2 hour with her Dippin' Dots and she was in awe. Even my sons(18/16) and myself loved all the visuals. Can't wait to see the finished show next month.

Last night I saw the area where the programming was going on. They are set up in front of the control booth. Must have been 20 laptops going. It was pretty cool to see all of the programmers all typing away on their macbooks and controlling the effects. Looks like they are running through bits and pieces of the show at a time and placing the appropriate effects where necessary. Fun to see, except working overnights.....not fun.
We are in Camper Village and heard the music and saw the lights until i fell asleep at 2:00 am

Rehearsals are a lot of fun, even if they are overnight. I have 2 overnight rehearsals next week and everyone will dress up in pajamas:)

Wikipedia says that a soft opening will be on June 1st. Anyone heard about this?

I saw the same thing, but it would be best to get confirmation from the park, as Wikipedia is not a reliable source.

Here is some of the show I saw last night. It's a really nice show! It went for about 45 mins.

First rollback on Dragster July 23 2003 since then 15

The lighting on the main midway would be enhanced immensly if the bright white midway lighting was tamed somehow. Maybe even turning them OFF! Everything looked great the last 2 nights, except the bright mercury vapor white does a great job of masking the colors coming from the light towers.

^Maybe once it is in "show mode" the area lighting will be shut off.

I believe that entire week will be a soft opening leading up to the actual opening on June, 8th.

Well, it's about what I was expecting. Top 40 all firing in rapid succession on a grand stage with impressive lighting, where the singing will likely pale in comparison to the studio-perfected version we're used to.

I was personally hoping that there would be some dance hits thrown in that weren't so pop, like stuff from Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Swedish House Mafia, etc. But, maybe that kind of stuff will come for the dance party following the show.

I bet all of us enthusiasts are going to think DRAGSTER at the 28:25 part of the show. Also, this is Cedar Point...where is Love Shack? ;)

It's been pretty widely know that previews start on June 1. Cedar Point has even been pushing it on their Facebook page.
