Maverick Tunnel Themeing

I'm just curious, for those who rode it VIP style, and those who have ridden it since..

Has ALL the theming been on? As in.. mist and all? After my 3 rides in the morning, they turned off the mist.. a very awesome feature. I was wondering if they ever turned it back on?

The mist has been turned off for the time being. I hear it is being reworked, and we may see it back... to a lesser degree... sometime soon.

The only time I have seen the mist on was when I rode Maverick for the Red Cross rides. And it was awesome. Yesterday for my three rides it was off, and I was disappointed about that. I really hope they don't rework it to a "lesser degree" as it was perfect the way it was. If I had to guess as to why they'd rework it, my guess is when a train gets stuck in the launch tunnel the mist builds up quite a bit and starts drifting into the station. This happened once during the Red Cross rides, and it was probably a bit overwhelming for the people down in the tunnel.

If this is what they want to fix, I hope they can simply make it so the mist turns OFF when a train doesn't launch immediately and then turn it back on once the train launches. For the effects to work well, there needs to be enough fog that you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay away from the light, don't go to the light! Oh...what, that was a dream? ;)

How much do the sound effects add? Is it really just a loud, booming bass sound, or is there more? If there is, don't give the specifics, I just want to know if there is more than that.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well that theming was short lived.

Hey, it lasted a couple days. :)

Did it even last more than one day??

Don't worry the theming and mist will be forsaken in the near future. Kind of like mist in the Magnum Tunnels.

It lasted about 30 minutes if your only counting public rides. But I have hopes for it's return.

AlbertY.. I was on that train, and it was VERY misty.. haha. But it wasn't really overbearing.

The ride was enhanced SO much with that mist. I pray they don't stop using it.

The mist in the tunnel is already gone, the water bombs aren't functioning, next will be the water flowing over the canyon.

That'll leave......nothing, exactly what we've come to expect from Cedar Point.

Actually in some cases I think I'd rather nothing than half-assed attempts.

It was already stated that they are reworking the cannons because of the trains getting wet.

I know I'm not allowed to comment since I don't live next door to the park or have seen any of the elements in person. But, of all the effects they've done on Maverick, the only one that's working seems to be the worst. You can see the nasty PVC pipe going up the back of the canyon and where is the water "supposed" to be coming from? There isn't anything there that could be "leaking" or whatever. It also doesn't seem to serve much purpose.

They should've just had the pipe pour over the surface of the rocks, making a cool waterfall effect.

It seems the other effects were very successful as far as guest comments go, so let's hope they can bring them back.

where exactly was the mist and what did it look like (was it coming from above/below/on the side etc.)

It fully encompased the tunnel. I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Although now that it isn't running, maybe someone can see the distribution system. The problem is your going by it too fast.

It seems a bit to early to determine that the mist is never coming back... If it was there at opening it would seem like they want to attempt to keep it.

And haltd, I was having the exact same feelings about that ugly effect. You would have thought they could have tried to conceal the pipe a bit more. And after they blogged about it, I fully expect the water canyons to be there sometime...

Thrills Around the Corner!

From what I hear the mist is being reworked, it was a little too thick when ride ops couldn't see the train in the tunnel. All I can say is patience... :)

^I wouldn't deny that. I couldn't see two rows in front of me when we got the rollback.

As for the distribution system.. I saw 3 misters in the tunnel, one RIGHT before the launch, one half way down, and one at the end.

They are U shaped from what I could gather.
