Millennium Force Rollback Question

Holy crap I thought we were gonna have a Millennium Force rollback on friday night. It stopped not far from the top of the hill. Then it rolled back a few feet until the brakes kicked in. Scared the crap out of me. Has this ride ever had a full rollback before?

It would have to be seriously broken to have a rollback. It is designed with an anti-rollback system. If that were to somehow fail in addition to the lift cable/catch-car assembly, and a train were in the station, you would have a pretty nasty accident. Especially if this was while the train in the station was still loading.

So no, it has never broken that badly.

Edited to add that there could be any number of reasons for a train to stop on the lift. If the train comes to a safe and secure stop, there is nothing to worry about. It happens more often than you think on rides all over the world, every day.

Nasty accident was my first thought. Of course we happened to be riding in the very back because of the short line!

Catastrophic is more like it, but it won't happen. With all the redundant anti-rollback dogs on the train, the train isn't going anywhere. Don't worry about it.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

While the train did not roll back, didn't the catch car break free and come flying into the station a few years back?

Not so much into the station but jammed at the bottom of the hill. Friction not withstanding, the thing has a potential to be moving at least 70 mph when it hits the bottom. Not sure how the engineers at Intamin expected it to gently follow the channel and go down through the diversionary track under the station at that speed.
