New employee

Hey, I just received my job offer today. I'm a ride host. The department is "Monster." Is the department the ride that I am going to be working on all summer and if so, how many people are a part of the crew? How are the hours?

Yes your department is your ride location so you will be working on Monster and Witches Wheel this summer, I can't speak for experience about how those rides are to work or how many people or hours come with the ride.

Cool thanks for your help. I'll be sure to add him on facebook!

Monster/Witches' Wheel has a total crew of around 8-11 with usually 5-7 people working at a time. That is if 2 people are on breaks, 3 people working Monster, and 2 people working Witches' Wheel. I worked those rides last year.

2013 - Dragster

I was offered a front desk position at Castaway Bay. I am nervous.....not sure what to expect. Im sure it will be a nice experience.

If you are a first year and applied for rides there is no need to be nervous. They are still hiring returners and they continue hiring well into March.

My first year I wasn't hired until mid-March

What should one expect on the first day (processing in)? Should I plan on staying from that point on? I feel like I need to know more information.

B.Armon

After you process in, you have various training classes and getting your uniform. If you live on point, you should plan on staying from that point on

Anyone who has worked at the Hat Rack, whats it like?
Will their be shade or are you under the sun? Is there an inside or a cashier desk?

I have not worked hat rack personally, But i was in merchandise my first year. Yes, at Hat Rack you do have a cash register. It's not a big stand. Most of the time you are by yourself. You get to wear the hats too i think (promote them). There is a roof over your head, however, I don't think there is air conditioning :(.

If i have already accepted my job offer is it still possible to ask my employer if I could work somewhere else in mechandise? Such as Castaway bay?

Hat Rack is covered but no AC. Most places in the park don't have AC very few do (mostly the larger shops). If you want to transfer you can ask your manager if they can put you somewhere else, they may or may not move you.

You can transfer departments (to go to Castaway Bay) but you are required to work a number of weeks in your current department and both departments have to agree to the transfer. In other words your current manager has to be willing to give you up (which probably won't happen till late June or July when staffing is at full) and your new department has to be willing to take you (less likely to happen in late June or July when staffing is at full) :)

I will also say though that if you don't accept an offer that the other departments can see that on your application. And they are SOMETIMES less likely to hire someone that has already turned down a position.

How do you get a phone interview?

Morté615's avatar

They call you, you fill out the online applications, (http://jobs.cedarfair.com/cedarpoint) and if they want an interview they will schedule one, (usually though e-mail) then they call you at the scheduled time.

I would recommend NOT calling the park to try to schedule one yourself. They are extremely busy right now and are making as many calls as they can.

What if I just want to be moved to a different place lie Ride photos or different store inside cedar point? Or even another hat store like "Hats n such" or Hattikins? Same process?

Pretty much, on your contract in Jobnet it will have a contact E-mail. Send your manager an e-mail asking to be placed somewhere else. Again they are really busy so an e-mail is better for contact but don't expect a reply any time soon. If all else fails when you start working ask your supervisor/manager about moving. It may take a couple weeks but they are usually pretty good about putting people where they want to be.

A happy employee is a happy customer :D
