Oct. 30 - Nov. 1 Trip Campground?

I was a little slow on the draw for booking a campsite for closing weekend because I wasn't sure if we'd be in town or not. As of now all the campsites are booked. I'm hoping to grab someone's cancellation between now and then, but if that doesn't happen has anyone ever just parked in the soak city lot (in the corner out of the way) and stayed overnight? Our toyhauler is fully self-contained, so I have no issues with not having any hookups for the night. I just don't want to deal with the Cedar Point Police knocking on the door at 2am saying we have to leave. There's a good chance a cancellation will pop up and that's what I' hoping for, so this would be plan B. This will be our 6th camping weekend up there.

We have a toy hauler and do about 6 or 7 trips to Lighthouse Point every year. We have reservations for closing weekend (sorry, we are not cancelling )... Its not Wal-Mart where they allow you to stay overnight. I would seriously doubt that the park will just allow you to set up in the Soak City parking lot. Otherwise, why would anyone pay to stay at the campground? I would expect a knock on the door asking you to move.

Keep checking often, I bet you will find an opening. We have taken several last minute trips by finding a late cancellation. If all else fails, you can stay at the KOA that is a short drive from the park.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely checking often to see if a site pops up, I'm almost positive that one will (not yours of course, lol). Also, I wasn't meaning that I was going to "setup camp" in the parking lot, just maybe an overnight on Friday. I remember a year or two back seeing a large class A doing just that and running their generator for the whole weekend. Anyways, I'm really hoping for a campsite and the KOA's website says they're only open until Oct.16.

We're up there a lot during the summer too, I'm sure I've seen your toyhauler in there, maybe even talked to you. I've talked to a few toyhauler owners up there this season. We have a new XLR Thunderbolt 395AMP, this is our first season with it and we love it. We've camped more this season than the last couple combined, we even pulled the beast down to Myrtle Beach for a week.

We have a Raptor. We have had it several years and love ours as well. Been thinking about trading for a boat then docking at Cedar Point Marina, but just have never pulled the trigger on it yet.

Im sure we have seen yours. Ive notice several Thunderbolts up there. Look like nice rigs....

Thanks for the replies guys. I just snagged someone's cancellation for Halloween weekend, so you won't see my toyhauler sitting in the parking lot now... Hoping for decent weather now!

They absolutely do not allow it, I've asked multiple times.

Having said that, I've seen a few people get away with it over the years. But I wouldn't risk it.

Just drive up to Walmart for the night. It's a 10 minute drive and no worries about getting in trouble. Even better, there's an abandoned movie theatre to the right of Walmart that is dark and quiet. That's where I usually go.
