It doesnt state that any ID is required. What are the guests supposed to present at the gate if they show up before their alumni/student friend?

I doubt any will be needed.

That's correct, there will not be any verification required at the park. If you buy a ticket, you can attend.

So then there's 2 opening days this year? :)

I do not like this at all. The park is making this very confusing. I guess i am buying a ticket so I can attend the real opening day of May 10th. Has anyone heard if we can use our pass to avoid paying parking. Have we heard an update on the first rider auction? They are running out of time. Will I be bidding to ride the 10th or the 11th. This is confusing and I am aggravated and I am going to let the park know about it when the day comes.

2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3

The real opening day is still May 11th. This is no different than when MF opened and they had a buyout the day before. You still need a special ticket, they are just easier to get for OSU day.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I guess your right Pete. That does make sense. I remember the Longaberger days. We just did not have an opportunity to attend those private events. It sounds to me like we will have to pay for parking.

I have my tickets ordered. My question is, will people be able to purchase Ohio State Day tickets at the gate on May 10th? Better yet, does anyone know when the promotion online will end? Will friends of mine be able to purchase tickets on May 9th using the code on CP website?

I know they stopped selling the $25 student tickets last week, so you can anticipate that they will also stop selling the online ones shortly.

And you can pretty much guarantee that they won't be selling any tickets the day-of.

That being said, if this truly does turn into more than an Ohio State day (i.e. if any of the undesirables from That State Up North get into the park), you can bet that I'll be disappointed.

That being said, the fact that this event was marketed to over 60,000 students, over 500,000 alumni, and their families, makes me think that this day may not have many advantages in terms of riding a lot. Oh well.

It's still an extra day in the park.

Let's Get Weird.

So I shouldn't wear my U of M or Sparty sweatshirt that day? :)

I have no idea what to expect for that day honestly. I could see it being relatively empty since most people in Ohio that really care enough to go probably already have season passes and won't want to cough up the extra money. Or I could see it being packed like some of those Kings Island preview days which were worse than opening days (although I think they were free to passholders and maybe included bring a friend cheap so that is a difference maker I would think).

I'm going to make a more relaxing weekend out of it and go that day. And Saturday. And Sunday. :) I'll be back throughout the season so nomatter what happens with attendance, I'll get chances to ride at some point. And I'm sure Magnum will be running like a champ and with short lines so there's always that. :)

The tickets are still available, but the location at which they're selling them has changed. You can still purchase tickets online.

We understand some of the frustration. Please note the admission policy and actual day-of event is orchestrated by Ohio State, who "bought out" the park for the day.

When I went over to the union to buy my tickets on Friday I was told that they will be selling them in the Alumni Association room, and no longer at the dtix desk starting Monday 4/8.

Great point, Tony.

I will add that I am a little curious what the crowds will be like. I am going to OSU day, despite not being a student or alumni.... I am however a "fan", because they bought out the park and are letting me come, not for any other reason. And yeah, I'm from the state of Michigan, about 30 minutes from U of M.

Anyway, I wish there was a way to get a gauge on anticipated crowd levels. I'll be there Thursday too, which I expect to be an absolute zoo and will consider myself lucky to ride once or twice. But buying a ticket for Friday, I'm really hopeful I can get a bunch of riding in on all the rides. Cause I won't be able to make it back till Coastermania (gasp!)

What's on Thursday?

I would expect a fairly big crowd on OSU day, and as a three-time alum I'm pleased to hear we are doing something to help out someone from the state we really don't give a damn for. :) You're talking about the single-largest alumni population in the world. If they had a football practice game on the midway that day, there would be 100,000 people there. :)

I would think this will also make opening day even larger than it would have been, and due to Gatekeeper it's already going to be a fairly packed opening weekend.

We're waiting until "opening Monday". That's our annual opening day.

And thanks (below).

any more updates on how many people are going? I am heading up as a student on Friday and was just wondering if any crowd estimates have been found.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being like a normal summer day in terms of crowds. In fact.....I'd expect it.
