Rogue ad driving iOS users crazy...

I assume it is a rogue ad. Every so often, without warning, without me doing anything at all, while browsing PointBuzz, my iPad suddenly dumps me out of Safari and launches the App Store.

I wish I could tell you what is doing it, but even if I wait for it, whatever app this script wants me to download never seems to load once the store comes up...

Yeah, we had that behavior a few weeks ago on a rogue ad. Sounds like another one is running. It's like play whack-a-mole.

It's probably coming from Burst, too, but I can't figure out which campaign it is. I would so like to dump Burst, but ad revenue generally sucks as it is right now. I sure miss 2000 before the bubble popped! But not really, because it cost a grand a month to keep this site on the air in those days.

This time I got a splash screen about Flash, and a redirect to something at "http://down.dpytop.com", then the App Store launch.

I get it too, but I've noticed it happens when the top ad banner is for Bubblewitch Saga, and the app store page for that game is what pops up. I've always assumed I may have accidentally touched the ad banner here on my iPad, but when it happened day before last I know I had been nowhere near it.

At least it's not a rogue rougarou ad.

Are you guys seeing these purely on iOS? I can't find the ad, and it's pissing me off. I so want to ditch Burst.

Reportedly ios 8 fixes this.

Safari now blocks ads from automatically redirecting to the App Store without user interaction.
