New book tells story of Lake Erie Shores and Island tourism
Former Cedar Point general manager John Hildebrandt and his wife Marie collaborate on "Lake Erie's Shores and Islands," a book that relates the history of tourism and recreation in Ottawa and Erie counties from 1860 to the present.

John and Marie Hildebrandt say many books touch on the various municipalities and attractions in Erie and Ottawa counties, but no book had yet told the story of tourism in the area.
The couple's new book, “Lake Erie's Shores and Islands,” aims to do just that. Part of the Images of America series, the book relates the history of tourism in Ottawa and Erie counties from 1860 to the present.
“Lake Erie's Shores and Islands” is published by Arcadia Publishing and features 215 photographs and captions.
The book will be released on April 27 and is available for purchase on Amazon and through Arcadia Publishing.
