Cedar Point's super secret revamp of Mean Streak

Park gives a behind-the-scenes tour of the wooden coaster's reconstruction.

Cedar Point officials remain mum about the specifics of the new coaster that is rising from much of Mean Streak's 1.7 million board feet of southern yellow pine.

Workers on Tuesday were busy reshaping many of the coaster’s peaks and curves, adding heavy beams of curved steel track that in many places will allow trains to take riders from side to side and even upside down again and again and again.

Jason McClure, vice president and general manager for Cedar Point, said the new coaster will turn some heads, but he would not offer any specifics as to whether records might be broken once again.

“This is Cedar Point, man — that’s all I am going to say."
