Cedar Point Press Release

SANDUSKY, Ohio (Sept. 1, 2022) – For over 75 years, Cedar Point’s original fresh-cut fries have been at the root of the park experience, drawing fans from all across the globe to savor the hand-cut, freshly-prepared potatoes. To celebrate its humble spud, Cedar Point will host the first-ever “Happy Friar’s Fresh-Cut Fries Fest,” beginning Fry-day, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11.

During the event, Cedar Point’s culinary team will introduce all-new fresh-cut fries creations and recipes, including Bento Fries with surimi, wasabi aioli, yum yum sauce, green onions and black sesame seeds; Birria Fries with shredded beef brisket, chihuahua cheese, birria oil, sliced red fresno chilies, cilantro and diced red onion; Thai Fries with peanut sauce, crushed peanuts, sliced red fresno chilies, cilantro and lime wedge; and French Dip Fries with Philly meat, caramelized onions, beef au jus, mozzarella and provolone shredded cheeses and bistro sauce.

These new recipes are only available during the event and join the ap-peel-ing traditional all-season favorites like Buffalo, Garlic Parmesan, Original and Chili & Cheese fresh-cut fries.

The pièce de résistance will be a more-than-three-pound sharable pile of potatoes named Mt. Spudmore. Available only on event days from noon – 4 p.m. while supplies last, Mt. Spudmore is a feast of fries for the eyes, and the climb to the top is a feat for the taste buds. Mt. Spudmore is held together with four fresh-cut fries variations: Cajun Fries with cherry pepper and pineapple jam, Garlic Parmesan Fries with lemon aioli, Dried Mushroom and Truffle Fries with basil pesto, and at the summit, Cedar Point’s Original Fries.

If that’s not enough, Happy Friar, the lovable fry-con of the Happy Friar fresh-cut fries stand on the Gemini Midway (and the park’s unofficial potato purveyor), will be meeting guests and making select live appearances each day of the event near his namesake location from noon to 4 p.m.
