Gemini on an island? Monorail? The early concepts obviously changed and evolved, but Cedar Point Inc's 1975 annual report contained a candid look at what management once considered for the future.
Tomorrow's Cedar Point...
Cedar Point has been called the finest amusement park in the United States, and we intend to maintain that reputation. We are convinced we can do so only through a commitment to continually expand and improve our facilities. That's why planning how best to use our 100-plus acres of undeveloped land at Cedar Point never stops. That's also why we inspect every new ride developed anywhere in the world. And, finally, that's why our current planning calls for substantial capital expenditures by 1980 to make Cedar Point even better than it is today.
One phase of this planning calls for the future construction of a racing coaster, highest and fastest in the country. Another phase calls for creation of a contemporary theme area, featuring both rides and exposition facilities.
Planning must proceed still further before we can announce whether these plans will become realities or will be superseded by new plans. It is certain, however, that we will always be working to improve our recreation center and that, truly, Cedar Point will never be completed.
