I was wonderimg what kind of sensors Cedar Point uses and how they sense a train is there such as something hitting the sensoror light.
Thanks!!=D

All coasters have sensors. Look at any Intamin in the world and you will see the little sensors all over (overcomplicating). B&M and the other companies usually use sensors more sparingly.

They just use simple proximity sensors all around the track. Some of the rides (Mean Streak for example) use photo eye sensors, but most of them are just the simple green prox sensors you see on the tracks around the park.

I believe that gemini, corkscrew and mine ride also still uses the old photo eye sensors.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thanks guys!

Proxys are those little green cubes on the track. some of the rides that use photo eyes also use proxys.

Actually Ben, I think I remember seeing prox sensors on Mean Streak, though it may use both, not sure about that.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Pretty sure it uses both. I just know there is photo eye sensors on it somewhere on that final brake area where it goes down the hill into the station.

There are both on MS they look like little laser pointers they are not as big as Gemini's. There is one at the begging and end of each block. But we have proxys also that help count cars making sure every train has 7 cars. They also help withe positioning of the transfer track.

Wildcat also uses both safety systems.

I don't think there are any rides left that do not use both safety systems. The only one i can possibly think of is Gemini or maybe Mine Ride but i'm almost positive they all use some form of both.

Gemini has them right before the helix as of last year and Mine Ride has them everywhere any other coaster would have them

Does Gemini actually have prox switches now? Gemini and Corkscrew both have (or at least had) actual limit switches in addition to the usual photo eye pairs.

For those who were on the tour today...did you recognize the channel iron in the Breakers parking lot near the Raptor cars? I didn't verify it but to me it looked like the station channel from Gemini that some of the switches and other hardware attaches to.
