cedar point fast pass?

Does anyone know if cedar point will ever get some sort of fast pass?

NO.

For more information, search this forum for "Freeway" and "Ticket To Ride" which are Cedar Point's two major failures at queue management schemes.

That's not to say they won't try to implement something in the future. I loved the Freeway pass system. Then again, now I don't wait any more than 30 minutes for any ride at CP.

terrible, terrible ideas when implemented at CP. Even worse when implemented at other parks to get extra money. Seaworld Orlando was unbearable with their fast pass extra service. Universal was also very bad with their version. The lines just crawl and the people become arrogant jerks and scoff at any line they have to wait in because they paid their "hard earned dollars" to skip the lines. I say if you dont like waiting in lines choose a different time of the year to go. For instance I was at the park the first half of this week and didnt wait over 45 minutes for anything.

As long as there are trains missing from Gemini, Iron Dragon, Mantis:TCFKAB, Corkscrew, Mine Ride and Mean Streak, Cedar Point has no business even thinking about queue management schemes. The best way to shorten waits is to maximize capacity, something Cedar Point used to be good at.

That's one way. Another is to dispense wtih (or better yet, never enact) superfluous and time-consuming safety measures on rides that never needed them before and still don't now.

Oh, and isn't green train re-assembled and pressed back into service on MS? (Not to take away from your point at all.)

Yes, Mean Streak has all three trains back in service.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

You never know. This new guy has the experience with fast pass so maybe he can find a way to make it work. Maybe just have it included in the platinum pass.

If the new guy is getting that involved with the operations of a single park, then he's not that different from the old guy.

He doesn't have to do it for just CP...

The Ticket To Ride and Freeway systems were initially implemented at Cedar Point in response to the immense popularity of Millennium Force when it first opened. I took advantage of both systems and appreciated the shorter waits they afforded me. However, there are now ample opportunities--especially for those with Platinum Passes--to experience much shorter wait times on Cedar Point's major thrill rides. A more general Fast Pass system for those willing to part with the extra dollars to pay for it has its advantages, but I do feel such systems sometimes create tensions among guests. Most people waiting in line--especially longer ones--don't appreciate line cutters. Even if those line cutters are doing it legally with their fast passes.

They kind of do have a system for this - the VIP pass. It is for those who are willing to pay for the perk and it is limited to a small number of people a day to have minimal impact of the regular guests. For now at least I think there are more important things for the park to worry about getting right then a fast pass type system.

Ensign at least Cedar Point has not started the "visual scan"!

Speak of Six Flags I was at Great Adventure this past Tuesday and had the longest wait for Superman at about 40 minutes. But I still saw tons of people with Flash Passes, sometimes there was more flash pass people in their line than in the regular one.

Visual Scan!
First Top Thrill Dragster train of 2011!
Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!

Ah yes, the visual scan. The first time I saw that being employed at SFKK, I briefly imagined the ride ops were on meth.

Man, I was thinking the same thing after my last 2 visits to CP. What happened to CP's previously awesome capacity on all rides? The last 2 visits, I've been ecstatic after seeing the parking lot empty, realizing it was going to be a great dead day.

After my last 2 trips, I wonder if the empty parking lot should create a feeling of dread. It seemed the park was just trying to make you wait for the rides.

The park was empty this past Thursday, and it never rained. Yet, Raptor had a line out the midway with 2-train operation. While Cork Screw only had people waiting in the station, it took about 20 minutes to board with its 1-train operation. About a 15-minute wait for Mine Ride with 1-train operation. Blue Streak possibly the most unbearable wait of all -- about 20 minutes with its 1-train operation, but the whole process just felt SO slow. I believe Iron Dragon & Mantis were running 1 train as well, as they managed to have waits the majority of the day.

The majors like Millenium were running full steam with all trains and managed to have much shorter waits than Blue Streak, etc. It was still a great day, but having long waits for the usual walk-ons got to be very annoying after awhile. I much preferred CP's past approach of running all trains, but just closing/opening cars as needed; this 1-train operation stuff has got to go...it's miserable.

This season definitely seems like a significant step down in terms of capacity and ride operations.

Why is it that they are so behind

Systems like this are an individual park ops issue. Something that the individual GMs should concern themselves with, and something the CEO/President should have no direct say in. About the only involvement the new guy should have is to empower the GMs to make these kinds of decisions.

While all three are back together, one still sat idle Friday on the transfer track. As well as only running one train on Magnum, Blue Streak, only the blue side on Gemini, and Wicked Twister. Ok, I couldn't help myself with the WT comment.;)

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!

Why would they only have one train on magnum?!
