OMG 10/12/2013

Anybody visit on Saturday 10/12/2013 It LITERALLY took almost four hours to get out of the parking lot from VIP Parking. It was a madhouse, in the middle of it all. We ended up being stuck in the middle of two a$$holes playing I'm not letting you over road rage, luckly the CP police walked up. I was so worried one of them were going to hit us.

Does it ever come to a point where CP STOPS selling tickets? That night was a NIGHTMARE the park was so crowded, I never seen it that packed, the lines were horrendous. BAD impression on first-timers to say the least. There were just too-many people. I wonder if CP broke a record that day

Columbus day weekend, good weather, Saturday. Yeah it's pretty much expected from Columbus Day + Saturday alone each year. Throw good weather in and it's the busiest weekend of the year.

I think CP should lock out season passes on Saturday of Columbus Day weekend. IIRC, Disney does that on days when high attendance is expected. I know some season passholders would get upset about that, but I think it could reduce crowds that day and those who bought regular admission would be able to enjoy the park better.

I posted in another forum that I was out on our boat yesterday enjoying the great weather and we cruised in Sandusky Bay and saw cars parked all along the causeway. It was a great day to be on the boat and a great day to not be in the park. No way would I visit on a sunny Columbus Day weekend.

This is one of the stupidest ideas ever conceived by a human.

As for Saturday being "not enjoyable," research based on past-experience is a powerful thing for humanity. Anyone who went Saturday did not take advantage of that research and frankly, deserved what they got.

Why would anybody with a season pass want to go to Cedar Point with a crowd like they had yesterday?

Someone who really likes people.

As a pass holder I don't have much desire to go on a day like yesterday when I could go any other and you're right, I would be upset by not being able to. That would mean if friends or family with regular admission tickets wanted me to meet with them I would have to pay a 2nd time to get into a park I already paid to get into just because Monday is a holiday. It would make more sense to find a way to "advertise" to pass holders when the park expects extremely high attendence to give them the heads up that they may not want to come without actually coming out and saying "don't come".

Common sense tells me to stay out of the park on Saturday's. I wouldn't go Columbus Day weekend if someone paid me to. If I was waiting 2 hours just to get to the tollbooth and into the front gate, that would be a hint for me to not go in. The park is just not very enjoyable when there are 4 hour waits for rides and hardly any room to breathe.

I don't know what the ratio of season pass to regular admission was yesterday, I probably did jump on the lockout idea too quick. If there was only a small percentage of season passes yesterday, it would do little if any good. But I'm pretty sure Disney parks do that, at least I think they did in the past.

Yes they still do: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/

There were actually a few times pre-webcam that my husband and I got there, saw that cars were parked in the grass by the chausee because the lot was full, and just turned around and left. I think we've only been there 2 Saturdays this year because I usually avoid weekends in general.

Based on what I heard traffic was like, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a record setting day. What a great day it was though to sit in the sun with a cocktail at Mojito Bay in Put In Bay, which also had a big crowd Sat.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I refuse to go on a Saturday (including opening day). I new it was gonna be busy weekend judging just by the crowds on friday. It was fairly busy for a friday evening on 10/11.

I was there. Had fright lane. Friday night was great to hit all the rides. We returned Saturday. We were parked in Soak City lot with a hotel room at Breakers Express. At 11:45pm we rode Wind Seeker and saw the lot for the first time since 11:00am. We decided to take a walk along the beach boardwalk back to the Soak City lot. We hopped in our vehicle and sat until 3:30 am. CP had filled the causeway with free parking in the grass, parking behind Mean Streak and along Perimeter road where they could. We had to wait until the front lots were empty before they would allow us to exit. Needless to say, people were uncontrollably irate. We turned off the ignition and caught up on some Hulu TV. I took a couple pictures of the causeway around noon with vehicles parked in the grass. We had no idea what was going on as we sat there. No communication until 1:45 when CP police made their way back there. They told us what was going on (kind of obvious at that point) and how they have never been to the point of car capacity that they hit that day....EVER.

So I am curious - on the busiest day ever - did they sell out of Fastpasses or did they just keep selling them?

Why don't we have four topics for this? Three just isn't enough.

Fast passes were out as of 1:00.

I believe most season pass holders know Saturdays during Halloweekends are extremely busy. My husband and I did not go this past weekend mainly for financial reasons but when we do we are there for the entire weekend because we live 180 miles away. We enjoy Friday nights, put up with the crowds on Saturdays for awhile , then enjoy lighter crowds on Sundays. Season pass holders should be able to use their pass on any day CP is open period.

Cedar Point needs to get their act together. Seriously, I'm a season pass holder and I couldn't even enjoy a day like this. When is enough, enough? Why are they always trying to make as much $$$ as they possibly can and not worry about their customers having a good time? 2 1/2 hour wait times, for real? 1 1/2 hour wait for Corkscrew! That's absurd....It's time they take a page out of Busch Gardens book and Walt Disney's book at cap it off when they sell so many tickets to give the ones who have purchased tickets ahead of time or who get there early enough a good time in the park.

On top of this they are turning into nazi's, you can't take a picture of your on ride photo without being accused of "stealing" or "theft" as I heard one employee say over the speaker. Really? Go to Disney and you can take as many pics of you on ride photos as you wish. Maybe if they didn't charge $10 for a crappy on ride photo people would purchase more of them.

I don't know but Cedar Point needs to take a step back and cool it a little and really look at some of their policies. I'm considering not renewing my passes next year and have been a pass holder for many years now and this has been oe of the worse years I've seen.

Thoughts???

I KNOW some days are absolutely crazy busy, but there are many days throughout the operating season that are not. We cannot dictate how much money a company like CP can make. As season pass holders ,we need to make good decisions on times to attend their park. As far as busier this year, new coaster, bigger crowds.

My thoughts are Cedar Point has no nearby competition unlike the Orlando parks.
