Major Thanks to CP for new seatbelts on MF and TTD 2014

Both rides have new seatbelts, and they appear to be much more accommodating than the old seatbelts, with the female part of the buckle easier to get to. Good going, CP!

There is absolutely no reason for a person whose body allows the lapbar to sit properly, on your lap, to be inhibited by a ridonkulously short belt.

Now, about that change to iron Dragon.......

I wish they would fix the restraints on WT. I barely fit in those and I usually sit in the back because those ones will lock for me. I sat in the middle once and did the walk of shame.

May 10 and 11th, was my first trip ever to CP. I guess I should be thankfull then, because I was barely able to get the damn seat belt fastened on those 2 rides.

Speaking of restraints, has Cedar Point fixed the vests on Gatekeeper so that they don't tighten as the ride goes on? I sadly was not able to make it to opening day.

The Gatekeeper restraints were fixed towards the end of last season.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,

Yeah, I rode Gatekeeper in July 2013 and October 2013 and there was a HUGE difference in the restraints. They're much better now.

Remember, it's nice to be important- but it's more important to be nice.

.. and the seat belts on those rides are replaced every season.

Oh god, what have they done to iron dragon?

By the way, how are Magnums belts this year?

I am way larger(265lbs) than I have ever been(usually 230) and the new belts were definitely more accommodating. Wicked Twister was still a no go. I don't fit on there even when I am thin.

Wow maybe we can gain some extra speed with the extra weight on the trains. :)

Great news for TTD and MF! However.. not Wicked Twister. Those seat belts were slowing down the operation of the ride enormously. I was waiting for the front row and watched almost every single train have to release shoulder harnesses at LEAST 2-3 times because of guests that couldn't get the seat belt to lock.

I don't remember WT seat belts being like this. However.. if they are going to stay like this they really need a ride host at the front entrance to test seat larger guests and send them away before entering the line and getting on the coaster only to be turned away.

No need for those belts to be so short on WT. I enjoy the ride, but didn't ride it last year because of the short belts. Looks like this will be 2yrs of not riding.

So let me get this straight, they have updated the seat belts on MF and TTD this year? So they are longer and easier to buckle?

Magnum's belts have been shortened again. I luckily can still ride. A friend of mine has lost considerable weight since last year, hoping not to have issues. She had heck of time, but still managed. It is crazy to see what the park is doing! Why make MF & TTD more accommodating, and then shorten Magnum & WT? Magnum's has been shortened every season since its 20th anniversary.

I didn't notice much difference in the length of the new belts on MF, but they did seem easier to buckle and remove. But that is probably because the buckles are new. I thought I pulled it tight just about the same amount as last year.

I didn't ride because I haven't fit in years, but my very slender friend barely made it onto WT. According to him, the belts can't even physically reach the back buckle anymore. Granted that's second hand news, but either way, it seems like they're absurdly short this year.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Ralph, can I ask you what row your friend sat in? If it was row 8, forget about it. That harness is impossible to buckle even the skinniest people

Well with that obese woman that was tossed from New Texas Giant because her bar was stopped from going past her belly, I would be surprised not to see tighter belts and more people being denied rides. It is not about the parks and ride manufactures making seats and belts smaller and tighter for kicks, they are doing their best to make them safer. It doesn't help when someone complains that because of their size they couldn't fit (not the people who try and know they may not be able to ride). There are many (some of them here actually) that blame everything but themselves for the TRUE reason they could not fit. People need to take responsibility, if you are tossed from a ride line because you basically cannot fit in seat with a seatbelt, why get mad at the park or the manufacturer instead of taking that as a sign to get motivated to make some changes in your life?
