Sandusky police investigating accident at Cedar Point near Raptor

This is freaking crap, everything was just shut down because of a storm. I, along with about 100 other people would have been able to ride if they didn't close the ride for this guys wallet. Please tell me this isn't permanent.

I was at Kennywood this summer and every roller coaster had a "trivia" sign - the first three "facts" were about the individual coaster - the 4th was always - We will not shut down the ride to find your lost article. I forget the exact working but to paraphrase "We will not inconvenience the rest of our guests because you didn't secure an item."

On the other hand, I may "lose" my wallet on every single ride on my next visit. I would bet that would solve the problem.

How does anyone manage to lose their wallet? On just about every ride, the restrains seal my pockets pretty good. It's just about impossible for anything to fall out.

"Oh, there's plenty of time to the top of the lift. I'm just going to get my credit card real quick so that it's handy when I hit the drink stand after the ride."

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

But first, let me take a selfie!

Honestly, this would be pretty easy to protest with the aforementioned method.... just don't know if you'd be able to do it more than once without getting kicked out of the park or if they'd give you the benefit of the doubt.

If true, it's both ridiculous and a bit surprising. I have a hard time believing any coaster would be shut down for any period of time because a patron lost an object, unless said object was somehow a medical necessity, like a colostomy bag. Now wouldn't that be something.

I've never witnessed this happen in over three decades of visiting the park, or heard of it happening (until just now).

This may not necessarily be a "new" policy. A year or two back I was stopped on the safeties on Magnum and a ride operator came on the intercom and said we were stopped on purpose so they could search for a lost item. In this case a rider's hat somehow ended up on the ground while the train was waiting behind the station on the transfer. It took about 10 minutes and the ride resumed operating.

Today I saw a girl board Magnum with a purse big enough to fit two of what looked like souvenir drink cups inside it. She also had a sweatshirt that she was not wearing tied to the purse strap. Now the strap was not around her body or buckled into her seatbelt. She was just holding ot in a pile on her lap. I was surprised she was allowed to ride like this and at least two ride hosts saw her stuff. She tried to hand her stuff to one of them to put in a bin and they handed it back to her and let her ride with it.

It's like they just don't care anymore. All the handheld glasses and phones I've seen this season. All the bags I've seen with people on rides.

Never a word from a ride op.

Have the rules been thrown out the window?

Maybe there are new employees now since many of the old ones went back to school. It could just be that the new employees aren't familiar with the rules.

I find it hard to believe a business would have people on the job who weren't familiar with the rules.

I find it hard to believe they would just throw the loose article policy out the window, considering there was a recent death that was related to a lost loose article.

They are probably familiar with the rules and just don't want to put the effort into enforcing them knowing that they only have a few weeks left, just tired of dealing with confrontation. If they would have at least asked the girl to put the strap around her body and run the seatbelt through it I think that would have been acceptable but they didn't even ask that of her.

You are allowed to ride with a purse if the strap goes around your neck and under your arm (or something like that).

A couple years ago they stopped Gemini because someone lost a shoe.

They have let me ride with a small purse with the strap around me and the seatbelt through the strap in the past but what I saw Friday was just a heap of stuff in the girl's lap attached to nothing.

Just yesterday, I witnessed a guest being allowed to enter Magnums line with a full size umbrella(closed with a pointed tip). I'm not sure if he was eventually allowed to ride, as he was 20 people ahead of us, but how he was even allowed to enter que was beyond me. Hopefully, he wasn't allowed to ride. Imagine seeing that coming toward you going full speed.

Keep passing the fun along!

Canes, crutches and umbrellas are not permitted on most rides but can be left on the platform, assuming the official rules have not changed. This is a specific exception to whatever the carry on policy is for the particular ride.
