5/6 preview night

Thabto's avatar

That's why I'm skipping this year. I don't think it's worth going up there for just 4 hours with July level crowds. I'm going Sunday. I only went to last year's event because I was up there for the whole opening weekend.

I'm going Sunday as well, I can't wait to ride this thing!

^ Hopefully I get to meet you. I'll be wearing a Rougarou T-shirt with hat, and have glasses on.

I will also be there on Sunday. But I have no idea what I'm wearing.

Went this evening for preview night. The weather was perfect and the park was packed. We had chicken tenders and tater tots at the Frontier Inn. Delicious and highly recommended. Even made Walt's pic in the Frontier Inn. Gray sweatshirt next to the gray-haired guy in the blue jacket.

Went to preview night tonight. Weather was perfect, but man was the park slam packed.

Traffic in at 6:45 was backed up well beyond the Rye Beach Road exit on RT2 from the east and took us over 45 mins to get to the park from there. When we got there parking was beyond Row 43 signs at the very back of the parking lot and some cars were being diverted to the side lot near the bay. We found a decent amount of parking at the back entrance instead amongst all the construction equipment.

Rode Magnum, Maverick, Rougarou, and Millenium. Didn't even bother going near the front of the park tonight. Ventured over to Valravn to check the line length towards the end of the evening but the ride host was quoting 2.5 hour wait so we rode Millenium instead. Always a good choice 😊

We asked some Ohio State event people what the deal was and they said all you had to do was have a current student or alumnus of OSU get you tickets. Might be a good plan for folks next year as apparently the OSU crowds were very reasonable before the passholders rolled in.

Beautiful night on-point, glad we didn't turn around after seeing the nightmare traffic.

Mechanical Engineer: Dont mess with us, we design your coasters.

We(the front gate passholders) were let in about 6:45,Valravn sign was indicating 1 3/4 hr wait. Went to MF(1/2 hr) instead to start the day. Marina entrance 'waiters' were very upset that front gaters were let in early and got to Valravn before them.

Good, maybe people will not wait at the Marina gate as much.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Do the boat people find it annoying when non-marina park goers use that entrance?

Just wondering.

I hope you meant only the weather was nice. Everything else was partially organized chaos.

This just in! Cedar Point is crowded when the weather is nice and they open a new ride!

No, I meant overall. But I knew what to expect. The weather was perfect. It's a Friday night. They're opening a world-class coaster. There are a lot of passholders.

Unfortunately, passholders tend to be more entitled than the average guest. The way some of them acted last night you'd think they were making their only trip of the season.

It continued this morning in line at the marina gate when a group of them just showed up and started a second line. Several guests called them out on it and security escorted them to the end of the line.

Under normal circumstances, no. When the line to get in the park stretches 1/4 mile, yes.

Would that be a problem that was compounded by the MF Walkbacks?

The law of unintended consequences...

They could start a policy where only marina platinum pass holders can use that gate during the morning hours.

In the past I've used that gate often for early entry, riding the shuttle from the camp site. Might have to rethink that idea, but hate the crowds at the resort gate.

I don't think they were letting anyone in through the marina gate this morning for ert. I didn't bother going all the way there to check for sure. One guy who was sprinting there came walking back. Plus many others were coming from that direction.

The marina gate has always attracted some amount of early entry guests due to Millennium Force being a part of ERT since it debuted. Guests are able to grab a shuttle from Breakers or Sandcastle and take it to any gate they want to use.

With the addition of Valravn, I would think that gate will be swamped all season long for early entry. That's bad news for the boaters (sorry Pete!) but also for anyone trying to drive around perimeter road at that time in the morning. I wonder how they will prevent traffic from being blocked.

When we were driving Perimeter Road on Saturday before early entry, there was a security officer at the marina crosswalk keeping the road clear. I mean, you'd think people would just naturally stay out of the roadway, but... people.
