Hotel Breakers Expansion Construction

Does anyone know if the new wing will have it's own lobby? Been watching it rise the last month or so on the webcam, and it does not look like it is going to touch the existing structure. There is a good gap in between.

At WCO today they said there will be a enclosed walkway connecting the addition to the tower

I was thinking, since they are adding a new hotel wing, that they will open up that end of the beach so we can finally enjoy the lake! *fingers crossed*

Speaking of the beach... It's been a while since I have been on it... I know the stupid roping area has been removed but are there any limits as too how far out you can swim?

No. You're clear all the way to Canada.

Promoter of fog.

But make sure you have your (water proof) passport with you.

They really removed them? But can you swim down the beach by magnum? and down by wicked twister?

Yes, the ropes are gone. You cant swim by Wicked Twister because of the Jet Ski rentals at that location. The beach is a very vibrant and happening place. I saw more people utilizing the beach last year than I can ever remember.

^ Same here. But I have seen some people in the water over by Wicked Twister past the jet ski rental. They weren't swimming far out. They were just standing in the water just hanging out.

If the tree removal was for some kind of blight or disease, it makes sense; if it was pure aesthetics, its myopic. 'Unobstructed views of the lake' is the tag line, sounds great on paper. Unfortunately, nobody will ever go to CPS because they can see the lake a little bit better than before; they will, however, leave CPS if they are chilly, something that is bound to happen with greater frequency with the removal of a windbreak. One step forward, one step back.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

Those trees dropped a lot of crap in the lazy river. I would bet they were removed as much from a maintenance standpoint as for creating better views. I'm surprised it wasn't done years ago. As for the wind...if it's too windy to be at the water park then it is too windy to be there whether those trees are there or not.

Perhaps not; but the point, I think, is not to enhance views of the lake, it's to let people know there's an expansive beach to enjoy. Tony joked at NoCoaster this year that the pause at the top of Valravn's lift is to give guests the chance to say 'holy crap, there's a beach'. As I've noted elsewhere, park surveys showed a lot of guests were unaware there was a beach.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

When my group (10:00) AM was at the CPS stop, Mr. Pooch stated that the new tower will be connected to the 10 story towers section. The new section will have a pool & hot tub. The tree removal was to definitely open up the beach, but it will also (possibly) draw some people from the beach to the water park. I would also agree about the tree removal being a maintainence issue too; (leaves everywhere in mainstream last summer) yuck!!

I wondered what that was...

Ahh so it has been confirmed that a pool and hot tub is in the plan for the new section. I think that will make a lot of hotel guests happy!

Awesome, so glad they removed those ropes...now CP can finally look like it did in the 60s/70s/80s! Kudos to the park for finally understanding that most people had no idea there was a beach. since I was 13, every year my sister and I always wandered along the sand, but never swam (waded) in the lake because it was not deep enough where you were allowed. Today, my friends and I can finally enjoy the beach.
