Hi! I'm Heaven and this will be my first year at Cedar. I'll be working as an intern at the front desk at Hotel Breakers :)

I'm Ryan! I received a job offer earlier today as a character escort (live entertainment). I'm going to call and accept the offer tomorrow. Any Hamilton fans out here?

I spent a summer being a costume character at Cedar Point. Out of the six summers at Cedar Point, that was my favorite summer there. It was a lot of fun! To this day, I can't look a bag of Lay's BBQ chips or green jello without thinking of my escort !!

What was the escorts job exactly?

I was at Planet, which is somewhat different from Camp Snoopy, and I was there several years ago (things may have changed somewhat). You will help dress / undress the characters (Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, etc). After going out, my escort would walk around Planet Snoopy with me. She would be a time keeper (it was 1/2 hour out, 1/2 in the dressing room - but there was two characters, so she would always going in and out of the dressing room with one of the characters). She would take pictures, help form a line for children / guests who want to take a picture with the character, help interacting with the guest(s), be my voice (character's can't talk) and make sure everything runs smoothly for the character. There's paperwork that has to be done, but's very easy. Also, my escort and I would be the last two there, so she swept the floor everyday, and I took out the trash - but the dumper was just around the corner. Back at Camp Snoopy, there are shows that you will be involved in.

One important thing that you will learn is learning different signals. Example - keeping time for the characters. It gets hot in the costume, so sometimes it's helpful to say: "Snoopy, 5 more minutes and it will be time for a water break". Another thing that was helpful for me the year I did it was, instead of saying "there's a kid over there waving to you, say "Look to your left, there is a child who wants a hug." It's because characters have limited vision.

Also, take the time now (if you don't know their names) to learn their names. At the beginning of the season, please don't call Schroeder, Linus, or think when you're with Franklin - shoot - what is his name??? As of 2014 (the last year I worked at the park), there was Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Schroeder, Franklin, Lucy, Sally, Peppermint Patty, and Woodstock - the bird.

Ooooooooo that sounds so exciting, and don't worry I love the Peanut Characters. I've actually directed the musical You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. Thank you so much!

( I bold the part I'm replying to).

The person who interviewed and hired me mentioned this, and is one of the main reasons why I accpted the job. He said I would be dancing with them. Is it choreographed dance or more improvisational? Im better at the former..... GAAAAH I'm soooo excited!!

(I was rarely back at camp during the summer). Both the characters and escorts had a choreographed dance. The dance / skit was more involved with the characters, and the escorts were more off to the side with them. But you should have a fun summer with the gang !

Side note - Please take care of Schroeder, he's my favorite !

Congrats on your jobs Ryan and Heaven. Welcome to the team!

Those character escort and costumed character positions sound like so much fun. I had no idea they did so much. Not going to lie, I have a little bit of job envy right now.

I will be sure to take care of Schroeder! Love that guy!

So random question.... Do you remember if the escort uniform had pants or shorts??

You can have either two shorts or one short and one pants, just not two pants. They are khaki. The shirt is white with navy blue on the side. On one shoulder it says Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.

This thread is making me miss my summer with Live E. I was the technician for the Palace.

I will say, one of the benefits to Live E is the locked in schedule. Once shows and characters are open, your schedule never changes. For example, once my show opened, Mondays were the day off for me (and the cast and dressers). My daily hours were basically set by the show schedule as well.

The big thing about character escorts, especially if stationed at the front of the park, is the block bash performance on the Luminosity stage. That one is choreographed.

Most of all have fun with it. Live E is a small, unique group. As with any position at CP, the position is what you make of it.

Hi, I'm Josh. I'm excited to say that this will be my first summer at Cedar Point. I've been hired on to work in Area 3 and my Ride is Snake River Falls, while it's not my first choice as I'm not a big fan of water rides I still think it will be a lot of fun.
