What a beautiful coaster! Also glad to hear Tony say there will be a Frontier Town transformation in this Fox affiliate interview.

Before any ride opens, my favorite thing to daydream about is the stuff that isn't necessarily announced, such as night-lighting, queue placement, and station music. Excited to see all the little extras with this one. Lord knows after all these years, the Millennium Force station music still gives me chills. I have a feeling this ride will be just as memorable.

Well hopefully you're not dead set on station music, that trend seems to have lived only in the time between milly and TTD. Baby I'm ready to goooo.

Maverick had the Bonanza theme music for a while

I'm sure it won't happen because CP likes to light up their rides to show them off, but I'd prefer no night-lighting. :) Lightning Rod in the dark was even better than Lightning Rod during the day!

I think KI did a really nice job with Mystic Timbers. I'm not even talking about the shed, but more so the queue and surrounding area. It' not overboard, but it's above and beyond what we usually get from Cedar Fair parks and I think it adds to the experience. Even the shed is cool, albeit over hyped.

I'm sure it will look great lit up at night, hell its lit up during construction lol

That first drop though. Great photo's Walt.

This seems like the biggest mystery now at this point. I know some folks have advocated for a new midway connecting the Mean Streak site with the Gemini midway, but I'm not convinced that would work so easily. It is not as obvious a choice as connecting the Blue Streak and Marina entrance midways was with Valravn. The train also plays a significant role as it is right along that path.

To me the more likely "overhaul" option would be to knock down the Chuck Wagon/giftshop/Lusty Lil's building and then gift shop/food stand building between Maverick and Mean Streak. They could then completely rebuild that area similar to the overhaul done to the Gemini midway in 2014.

Agreed - that split midway has always been awkward.

Additionally - and this was first posited by someone else, I forget who - the train station could be moved east to approximately where the crossing is now, which would be a much more logical location, as that would open up the midway so that RMCMS is the centerpiece of what is now an awkward split dead end.

That would also open up room for RMCMS' entrance and queue to be nearer to the station (though I would personally prefer a linear, meandering queue through the coaster's structure).

Why does everyone have this fascination with opening up the NMS entrance area? At Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley is literally cut off from the entire rest of the park behind a brick wall, completely hidden from view from the rest of the park, yet everyone still manages to find it. Cedar Point's method of "opening up" the area would result in a expanse of concrete and clear cutting of every tree within 100 yards.

I would actually prefer them to add more buildings and drive home the true "frontier town" theme. Now it's basically like 3 buildings and a town hall, and the town doesn't really work at all. I would prefer the rumored new midway to be a lot like walking through a Wild West town, kinda like Ghost Town at Knott's.

Actually its a bit strange when you realize its half frontier style town and half early 20th century americana townsquare around the cars. Will be interesting to see what they do. Ill be taking lots of pictures the rest of this year to capture the frontier town I grew up with just in case its radically different.

Because it's an odd dead end, and the 2 year MS project is a rare opportunity to make improvements.

Good point. Look at how terrible Maverick's plaza looks. /s

After taking my trip to Knott's, I realized that Ghost Town puts Frontier Town to shame. I don't feel like I'm in the old west when I'm in Frontier Town. It's basically a couple of oldish looking buildings with Coke Freestyles and bright colorful merchandise. Ghost Town on the other hand is amazing! Characters walking around, buildings that appear to be falling apart, themed shops. Even the little things in FT really take away from the theme, like how there are random slabs of different colored concrete on the midway. They could at least make all the concrete the same color so it appears to look like dirt. And if they really wanted to go all out, the could put patterns in it like at Animal Kindom in WDW. Overall, I really hope this is a total revamp of FT.
