Steel Vengeance

According to a friend at the park there is quite a bit of smoke coming from Steel Vengeance. Any one have any idea what that might be?

Nothing on the webcam. Maybe the train billowing a cloud?

SV looks like a cool ride. Do you think we'll get a coaster similar to Intamin's Polercoaster to grab the record and beat Skyplex. If so I hope it can be done by a company other than Intamin.

The smoke worries me a bit .Twisted Colossus had a fire during disassembly of Colossus that burned off the crest of the lift (albeit in an earlier phase of construction.)

Why not Intamin? It's been 5 years, I imagine they've cleaned up their act a bit.

(Keep in mind they've made most of the park's headline coasters.)

How about Sky plex is a structure that cost $300 million, more than the last 10 years of investments combined. I seriously doubt it'll ever come to CP.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

^That is the biggest hurdle obviously.

That said, Skyplex is more than a coaster. But still, if CP wanted a record breaking coaster of that type, it'd be ridiculously expensive. Also, CP would probably wait to see one operating first before jumping on building their own, even if the price was reasonable (e.g., if they decided not to go for the record.)

Question. My friend wants to know how the name Steel vengeance comes into play? He gets the steel part, but not the vengeance part. Is there a part of the western story that I can better explain this to him more about? Like he thinks the characters should have been names of rides that are buried in the cemetery.

Tell him to watch the official trailer for Steel Vengeance. it explains how Maverick stole Digger's mining company and brought prosperity to frontiertown. The three characters are taking frontiertown from Maverick.

^ Does the trailer explain where these characters originated from?

This would be a good question for Tony's blog

Someone was a little late to the "Burn Mean Streak Down" party.

^^^My guess is Ghost Town at Knott's. After Digger's third failed marriage in California he fabricated a story about Maverick stealing his mining business in a state he had never been to. Little does Digger know that Maverick has his hand in everything in Frontiertown, including the brothel. Chess is a double agent for Maverick, secretly working with a spy named 357. The character CP will introduce when they convert Magnum XL-200 to a giga, Magnum357. We of course will then welcome Final Force. A 505 foot B&M looper. but that's my guess ;)

P.S. I wasn't serious about Magnum.

Well a brothel is certainly one way to get a big bump in per cap spending.

What cracks me up are the empty seats I see on Raptor and Valravn in the front row on the end. Best seats in the house and someone didn't think to sit there.
They must want to hold hands or something.

For some reason this made me think of the time I lost a high school girlfriend because I wanted to sit on the other side of Power Tower drop. I wanted to see the line for Top Thrill, she wanted to see the beach (or more accurately, a big steel column, as I argued). She wasn't too happy when I faked and ran to the other side.

Those are with out a doubt my go to seats, outer most seat in the front row

I'm looking forward to being dragged down that first drop from the back seat.

I can't get over how great this coaster should be. I won't be out to the park right away, but I can't wait for the park to open so I can read reviews about this ride.

Here's another pic from CP Rundown's Facebook page, with the fourth inversion complete:

I was watching a few the media day interviews from when Valraven was opened and one thing that stuck out to me was that Matt Ouimet and Rob Decker both talked about placemacking when a new ride is opened. It was done with Pipe Scream and with Gatekeepr and Valraven obviously. So I would fully expect as the season winds down and probably during Winter Chill Out that there is more information released.

I still would love to see this update include a couple of flat rides and a new midway, but that may be asking too much. At minimum I would expect the plaza in front of Steel Vengance to be completely reworked.

That just looks too perfect for a new entrance. It feels like a missed opportunity if they don't eventually let guests walk under that. Doesn't seem like they are planning to yet, but what are the odds they'd put the apex of that inversion right at the center of that path?
