Pokemon Go at Cedar Point

Cedar Pointer's avatar

Planing a trip to the park and was wondering if anyone else plays the game and knows what Pokemon can be usually be found at the park and how many stops are at the park.

Hoping I can get a big haul from my visit and want to hatch some eggs!

Don't mean to come across snarky, but you're going to Cedar Point! Enjoy the rides and the haunts and forget about Pokemon Go. Also, I have no idea how the game is played and whatnot, so I may be wrong in my assumptions, but can't it be kind of dangerous to play in a crowded area? CP is already inundated with people walking full speed with eyes GLUED to their phones and oblivious to the other people they cut off or practically walk into. Does Pokemon Go add to this nuisance?

Anyway -- good luck however it turns out, but don't lose sight of the main reason for being there in the first place! Wheeeeeee!

Proud to have fathered a second generation coaster enthusiast destined to keep me young at heart and riding coasters with a willing partner into my golden years!

My daughter and I have played some (mostly hatching eggs while walking or while waiting in line) but sadly, I've never seen anything that wasn't super common at home, so we lost interest pretty quick.

People still play this?

Ugh. My wife plays and my son is like a crack addict when it comes to Pokémon. I'm sure they will completely ignore the park this weekend and have their faces buried in their phones. Drives me nuts. May be even worse when the Harry Potter & Super Mario versions come out.

Luna, Pokémon Go was dropped by a lot of bandwaggoners, but a lot of people that play the actual Pokémon games are still addicted to it like meth or something.

More people chasing imaginary creatures means more room in the queue for me.

Actually it just means that you have something more to do while in line for the rides.

argues just for clicks

There are a ton of pokestops. Plus many people place lure modules on them. There has not really been any special pokemon here, it's more of a standard suburban area. Luckily, some used a website called tookit to calculate the minimum CP a Pokémon must be to ensure/insure its final evolutionary form is over 1,000 CP.

As usual, I'm late to the party. Instead of starting a new topic, I decided to resurrect this one. Would anyone want to get a Facebook Messenger group going for raid parties at CoasterMania?

Ugh. My wife and son are obsessed with Pokémon Go. They would be all about this. But CM is my no wife/no kid weekend!

When I used to play the game, I would only play while waiting in lines for attractions. I would always put all my energy into walking to the next coaster rather than stop every 5 seconds to catch a Pokemon. The former would be especially important at CM.

During the day at CoasterMania, I have never done much riding. And that has nothing to do with Go. I do most of my riding during ERT, catch the few shows that have started during the day, hit the cruise, lunch, Q&A, GOCC informal dinner at Dave's, probably a nap in there somewhere too. It goes by quick :-)

The few times I've tried to play Pokemon Go while waiting in line, I'd be just out of range of all the pokestops and gyms. I think Battle for Cedar Point is better! Can't wait to see what that looks like this year now that we have Steel Vengeance. I loved last year's update.

I won't continue doing Battle for Cedar Point until they find a way to run the app with a lower processing power. It drains my battery so hard.

I couldn’t figure out what I’m supposed to do in Battle... We did the trivia for CP and KD, checked out the AR near Top Thrill Dragster, and that’s as far as we got.

It's kind of like Pokemon Go. You join a clan and go to the main battle map, and you try to claim territories from other clans and defend your own. At the end of the day, the clan with the most land claimed wins (that was what was announced at the end of Luminosity). It's funny when in line, because attacking/defending is 3D and 360, so you have to physically turn around to turn the camera in the game, and I'm always afraid people are going to think I'm taking pictures of them.

Participating in the battle requires energy, which you can get from logging rides and completing other missions, as well as doing trivia.

The "health" points you add to your territory when defending or remove from territories you attack depends on what the current boosts are at the time you play, your levels, and even what your character wears (yes you can customize, and buying wearables of course costs coins which you get from winning battles, completing missions, etc.)

Overall it's a pretty cool game, although last year I played so much that I got the highest boosting outfit for my character and did all the trivia and other missions so there wasn't much else to do besides just try to win the battle for my clan. I am sure there will be a lot more in the app this year.

I know there wasn't much interest the last time I posted here, but with the Zapdos event coming up Saturday, I wondered if anyone was interested in getting together at the park. We get 5 free passes and they can only be used between 2pm & 5pm. If we have a team of at least 4, we should be good. More would be great.
