Agreed with the post above about turnstiles. Keeping accurate track of ridership is a really important duty of ride ops at CP and any ride that uses a turnstile to count riders will have their numbers completely thrown off if they allow rerides all day even when it's a walk on. It's not a big deal towards the end of the night because that's generally when you're sending partially empty cylces anyway

^If it's truly a walk on, can't they just use the counters? Don't they manually count for that purpose?

And that doesn't answer why other large parks seem to do fine while allowing rerides. They need to count for the same purpose.

To an extent. When you have a sporadic group of people trying to re ride while some people who were waiting on the load side platform board, it’s not that easy to remember who you count for. Inaccuracy is not the CP way.

And most other parks may handle re rides well, but I gaurantee most other parks don’t have the same ridership that most CP rides have either or even the same care when it comes to numbers. It’s a rule that ride ops were trained on enforcing. If you have a better system, then propose it to park operations.

^Most parks don't have the ridership that CP does, that's true. But a walk-on at CP and a walk-on at Six Flags America aren't all that different, are they? That's the only time re-rides come into play.

Again, I'm happy that CP allows them to some extent at certain times. But I don't see why not all the time if the ride is a total walk-on.

Cedar Point, for as long as I can remember, has always paid strict attention to the count. Other parks don’t care as much if at all. Pay attention to how many rides you encounter at other parks that have actual turnstiles.

If only their strict attention to count applied to the toll booths so they would know not to let more cars through than they have parking spaces for.

Kings Island had no turnstiles at any of their rides at all.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

I don’t know how else to explain it or make it clear. Not trying to come off rude. Just difference of opinions I guess. Cedar Point does not tend to follow suite of other parks out there. Like I said, accuracy of counting ridership is pretty important. So if that means you have to walk “ALL” the way around and get back in line...that’s what you’ll have to do. I don’t even agree letting the “infamous” single riders re ride while making the rest get back in line.

But....aren't they more privileged than us regular privileged enthusiasts? ;)

CP doesn't follow other parks... but they changed their operations, the operations they pioneered, to standardized IROC?

^ I never said that lol. I said they don’t tend to...and that has to do with what in terms of accuracy in ridership count? I’m a little confused.

^What I'm saying is that you say they tend to be independent of what other parks do, but at the same time, they changed their entire operations policy to the policy of an outside company - a policy that , from what I've heard, has made operations *less* efficient -, replacing the modern ride operations that CP pioneered. Which is a little ironic.

While I have worked at the park both before and after IROC, you’re absolutely right. IROC has made operations less efficient. You can blame the management team in ride operations for that. I see what you’re saying and where you’re coming from. But, we are talking about re rides. Unless someone comes up with a better way to allow re rides while accurately counting ridership, I don’t see that policy changing any time soon.

Even though it's been a while since they went on sale, some procrastinator out there will probably feel they need to be made whole.

Just idle curiosity while sitting here watching March Madness, but does anyone know what the capacity is for CoasterMania?
