Frontier Town’s other addition

With the constant “news” regarding Steel Vengeance, the installation of the shooting gallery seemingly has been overlooked. I love that they brought back a shooting gallery (albeit small and hidden in the frontier town arcade). The old shooting galleries were always a highlight and seeing another one back there was a nice surprise. Very nice gesture to “the good ole’ days.”

It ate our dollar bill on preview night. But we got to try it. Nothing was animated when hit. Is that how it is i wonder or will the animatronics work?

Maybe it’ll start working after the employees begin returning from their school exams?

Yeah, give em time. Cut em some slack. Sit around and soak up the atmosphere and just be glad to visit again!

Thanks for the reminder RCMAC. I sometimes find myself enjoying the banter too much...

So did they replace this shooting gallery (I'm not sure if it ever left as I didn't really frequent it, but remember seeing it in recent years)

While I liked the 20 shots for $1 it was not very impressive. I remember the old-old gallery and maybe nostalgia got the better of me but the new gallery was a far cry from that one.

I was more of a fan of the shooting galleries where everything is activated when a camera flash goes off at the scenery.

Some of my fondest memories (which are captured somewhere on the Kodak slides that were uber-popular in the early 1980's) at Cedar Point are of the old shooting galleries. Any attempt at keeping them integrated in the park's culture is a great move from my perspective. My girls love them.

I think the new shooting gallery is very nice and a perfect fit in Frontier Town. If people want charm, the new gallery is loaded with charm.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

If that is charm what do you call the old-old gallery? Was that super-duper charm?

Maybe my expectations are too high, but the gallery at Big Bass Pro Shop is way better than what CP has now. Maybe if I didn't remember what the gallery used to be I would look at the new one in a different light.

Well, I'm not a connoisseur of shooting galleries and barely remember the old one, but I thought the western display of the new one was nice and fit in well with Frontier Town. So yes, I thought it has charm.

Charm is good.

If only there was a whole land full of it somewhere. Over the rainbow...

I think I may have heard of such a place... 😀

Emily Litella would have a few choice words to say about the “charm” of a shooting gallery for addicts at a family amusement park.

Here is a video of the old Frontier Town shooting gallery that we recorded back in 1996. At this time there was another shooting gallery near the front of the park in the small arcade that was in Starbucks current location, but I can't find any pictures or videos of it. I vaguely recall that it was similar, but not identical to the Frontier Town gallery. It would be great to see some vids or pics of it.

In case you are wondering, around the 2:05 mark in the above video, you'll hear the super annoying song/noise that the original Win Zippo machines played. It's the grinding, droning, electric organ sound in the background. The machines were changed a couple years later to play the familiar "Oxygene Part 4." song that played for years after.

If all the players are ready...at the sound of the bell, ROLL EM!

Yes, that is the one I vaguely remember. Always thought it was kind of odd that it had a midieval theme in a western setting. I like the theming of the new one much better.
