A ride that CP doesn't have & you wish it would...

And honestly I think the number of family rides at the park is fine. Isn't thunder canyon a more family oriented ride as well?

(Now I kind of want to start a thread about unpopular opinions about Cedar Point)

I always enjoy a log flume.

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

Disagree with comment above about lack of demand for indoor rides and/or flume rides. Cedar Point is plenty stocked with outdoor super thrill rides. Definitely lacking a well-themed indoor ride (dark ride), whether that is an indoor coaster or shooter ride. Last I checked Disney is doing pretty well with mostly indoor, themed rides. Laff Track at Hershey is very popular as is Exterminator at Kennywood. Both are very fun rides. I remember Disaster Transport doing pretty well even though it was a mediocre ride. It was themed, cool on hot days, a nice break on the head from the wicked coasters. Water rides are also give that variety. My daughters just told me they are really looking forward to riding the two water rides at CP next week for our trip even though they ride ALL the coasters there too. They have talked just as much about the White Water ride as SV. Not everybody can ride Maverick style rides all day.

basically parks built in the 1970s onward and most log flumes are reaching the end of their useful lives. And they said not many manufacturers supply such types of rides these days and there isn't much demand for them.

Kinda like Corkscrew and Gemini.

I understand where you're coming from, but let's not confuse Cedar Point/Cedar Fair with Disney/Universal when it comes to theming.

The reason you don't see Disaster Transport at the park anymore wasn't just a lack of ridership, but it was the inability/apathy toward keeping up the theming. Even from the beginning, Disaster Transport's theming left much to be desired and it got worse from there.

Check out the video here from Defunctland on just how bad it got.

Is there a need for bigger air-conditioned restaurants/show spaces inside the park to alleviate the need for a bit of a break? Maybe. But one thing I don't want Cedar Point to do is shove in a "themed" dark ride that they aren't willing to do major upkeep on just for the sake of a hot weather break. If that's something the new regime is willing to take on, awesome. I just don't think it's a top priority.

They aren't Disney, and frankly, they don't want to be Disney when it comes to that type of experience and it's shown. They know who they are and what their market expects.

A family flume ride, however, would be a welcome sight to me though. Something simple, with a bit of thrill for the young kids would be perfect, i.e. White Water Landing.

Just curious, how many parks have installed a new flume ride in the last 5 years or so.

Just off the top of my head, the "newest" flume I can think of is Thunder River at Waldameer which opened in 1995.

Flume rides may be a nostalgic ride of the past. LIke many defunct attractions I love, which are gone forever.

Timber Mountain at Knotts Berry Farm completely remade in 2013. Looks beautiful, fun and a great family ride based on POV Youtube video. Maybe I am missing the point but I dont understand why Cedar Point won't get into the theming game, alongside their record breaking coasters. Are we saying they don't have the money or the will to maintain a beautiful ride like this Timber Mountain? Is it the weather in this climate? If it is about getting wet and cold than what about themed darkrides in general like Laff Track and Exterminator like I mentioned above but with even better theming?

I believe it was also said at the CM Q&A that kind of ride couldn't be used all season due to the season/weather changes. So that's a financial consideration.

They are also extraordinarily expensive to operate, given water must be pumped up to significant heights. That's likely one of the reasons StR didn't employ raised sections of water-filled flume. As much as I want a flume, , it's not likely we'll see on at CP, considering their high cost-per-rider.

I really want one too. :C I wouldn't mind a more modern, StR-like version of a flume, so long as it actually, y'know. Worked properly.

I am probably the only one who isn't crazy about log flumes at all. But I think a pirate-themed log flume would be cool.

Since they don't soak you, log flumes actually can have quite a bit more seasonal availability than one would think. For example, I think White Water Landing used to operate during Halloweekends, though I might be misremembering. Also, I'm pretty sure that KI runs their flume during Halloween Haunt, and I know for sure that their log flume and even their shoot-the-chutes ride were both open for Opening Day (April 14th) this year, as I rode them for the heck of it, and to test out my waterproof rain jacket. :P Considering the average temperature for KI in April is in the low 60's, I feel a log flume would work during Halloweekends up here, since the climates are pretty similar for April and October, respectively. With that in mind, it's also important to remember Mall of America's year-round indoor log flume, since it can be quite a soaker, even in subzero-winter Minneapolis.

Considering these cases, I think there's still a potential ROI for a log flume from a weather- and customer satisfaction-based standpoint, though it honestly seems illogical from a business- and budget-based standpoint when you take into account the money just used for the waterpark expansion/renovation last year (especially considering the revenue stream and ROI generated from waterpark tickets, which obviously would be nonexistent for a log flume). Of course, I highly doubt many single-day guests are paying the admission to enter the waterpark, so a new log flume would certainly benefit this significant sector of guests, at the risk of reducing waterpark revenue for those willing to pay. All in all, from a business standpoint I understand why a log flume is unlikely, yet from a guest standpoint I certainly yearn for a water ride that doesn't require a towel immediately afterwards.

While I can't ride most of them that are out there, CP needs to get 2 or 3 more crazy flat rides. I think 2 water rides are fine and the ones they have are pretty good but they don't run the entire year. Flat rides can run from opening to closing day. CP only has maybe 3 with Witches Wheel, Skyhawk and Maxair. I said it before, but the new version of Witches Wheel looks really fun since you are sitting in an individual seat with your feet dangling. People liked putting their arms out like they were flying. The lighting packages look extremely cool, too.

Yes. Actually, I did ride it back in October. We took my gf's niece to the park so I was able to ride some of the "family rides" without looking creepy.

^^3 flat rides? Might want to look around again next time you visit the park. You forgot about Power Tower, Monster, Super Himalaya, Matterhorn, Lake Erie Eagles, Tilt-A-Whirl, Tiki Twirl, Troika (Troika Troika), and more.

There's a need for more things to ride during rain or wind. A dark ride and a Rotor would be fun, and a log flume can run in the wind or rain.

Kennywood has the enjoyable Kangaroo, Paratrooper, and Bayern Kurve flats. Nice and simple and not too sickening. A non-flipping Flying Carpet-style flat (like Camp Bus but bigger) would be great; I can't handle a Top Spin anymore.

Just say no to trims

Those rides are too old. CP had a Bayern Kurve and Rotor when I was a kid. I doubt the park would re-invest in something like that. I get sick on Paratroopers, unfortunately.

^^I don't count carnival rides, but I did forget Power Tower and Windseeker.

Zoug68- Just because you don’t count them doesn’t mean they aren’t there and attract riders. My son loves Monster, I love TROIKA TROIKA TROIKA. Good stuff.

Dvo- Thank you for using the correct name!

Also, what’s the difference between Matterhorn & Super Himalaya? I always forget to pay close attention but they look very similar. Is one like a sleigh ride, the other is more like a Music Express?
